DJ AM: Cracked Out?

DJ AM had a crack pipe and some crack rock in his $2 million SoHo apartment … which is where police found him dead last week.

Sucks … we know.

Police first entered the 36-year-old’s $2 million SoHo apartment at 5:23 PM Friday after worried friends had tried unsuccessfully to reach him. Police and emergency medical workers discovered his lifeless body on top of his bed. A glass crack pipe was found nearby.

“It wasn’t until a while later when police actually found the bag of crack,” said the NYPD source. “It wasn’t discovered until his body was moved for the first time. The bag of crack was in the groin area inside the sweat pants he was wearing.”

Yup, that’s where we keep our sac, people.  Also in DJ AM’s SoHo apartment?  More than a dozen bottles of prescription drugs including Xanax and Vicadin.

Wait, why are we even writing this?  Who is DJ AM?  Is he one of the Beastie Boys?  Because, if so, we’d like to pour out a forty to the “illest muthaf*cka from here to Gardenia.”

Actually, that’s Adam Horowitz.  This is Adam Goldstein, i.e. the disc jockey and the guy who nearly died in a fiery plane crash in Columbia S.C. last  year that also injured former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and killed four others.  DJ AM suffered serious burns as a result of the crash (which would explain the painkillers) as well as post-traumatic stress (which would explain the Xanax).

DJ AM reportedly had a decade of clean living prior to his plane crash a year ago.  What a tragedy it would obviously be if the drugs he received after his accident ended up getting him “re-hooked.”
