S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley – the candidate hand-picked by S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford to carry on his reform agenda – is speaking out against the man whose support she was counting on to catapult her to competitiveness in the 2010 GOP gubernatorial primary.
“I’m not going to screw up like he did,” Haley told members of the Horry County Bar Association on Thursday, according to The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News.
Haley is trying to walk a fine line in the wake of Sanford’s ongoing public implosion, which has left her without a formidable advocate and fund-raising source as she seeks to make her mark in a field of big money, establishment Republican campaigns.
Last week, we wrote extensively (click here) about the impact of Sanford’s troubles on the Haley campaign – an article we’re told did not go over particularly well with Team Nikki.
Oh well, buckle your chin-straps, kids …

Yes Darling Nikki we will be your female dog
By Dianne August 28, 2009 at 9:52 am
Sorry, too late. She already did screw up as we well know. How much so has yet to be fully determined.
SC doesn’t need another top notch hypocrite. At least there should be a limit on that.
It’s truly disappointing that Rep. Haley refuses even at this way late juncture to do the right thing and rightfully derail team Sanford.
For Rep. Haley to possibly evade getting branded with the “H” will require men in black PR.
By Another opinion August 28, 2009 at 10:22 am
Haley has her own issues with traveling. She has lied about not remembering “what type of seat” she had on the China trip. We also still do not know about how she was picked as a first year legislator to go on a very important trade mission with the Luv Gov. These and many other questions are going to follow her through her campaign.
I think the voters of this state are smarter now and are not going to trust anyone closely affiliated with Sanford going forward. This means trouble for Ryberg, Davis and Haley in particular. I also think Eckstrom is a goner. Letting these checks for Sanford’s travel get paid through his office is a “crime.” It is time he looks for a real job!
By CNSYD August 28, 2009 at 10:28 am
Dear Niki, Are we to ignore the past tense, as in “screwed up”? Exactly where did you sit on your overseas flight and who paid?
By Mike Traynor August 28, 2009 at 10:55 am
Slurp, Slurp. That is Sanford’s lap dog licking is bare bottom.
She’s toast.
By BOYSMOM August 28, 2009 at 11:56 am
I fully agree with CNSYD. Any person who can not remember in what seat classification they had all the way to China does not need to be Governor…They need a menial job somewhere

Rep Haley said . . . “I’m not going to screw up like he did.”
Too late … you did all ready.
The Gov: Stylin’ and High Flyin’
http://www.wolfereports.com/?p=2788
Quoting from the URL:
“The AP not only looked at this information, but went well beyond, showing an extensive record of stylin’ and high flyin’ by the Governor. In 2007 on a trip to China, Sanford racked up a bill of $12,172 for good food, drinks and a better chair. The report states that Rep. Nikki Haley, who was also on the flight, had a flight cost of $6,842. And that is even more than actual state employees whose bills ran between about $1,905 and $3,963.”
Can you say done? I knew you could boys and girls . . .

I don’t even know why I read this article since I am beyond sick of anything related to NH.

The Gov gave her a high five today at his press unavailability in Conway.

“Turn out the lights, the party’s over.” “Dandy” Don Meredith, Monday Night Football, circa 1970′s. Nikki, Nikki, Nikki, read the writing on the wall. If you can’t come clean (or truly do not know the difference)about First Class versus Coach, you have reached your level of incompetence too early in the process. Enjoy Lexington County and all it has to offer.

So your telling me your not going to vote for her because of an airline seat? Let me get this straight, (as i assume those against Haley vote republican)you would rather vote for someone that is dumb as bricks and adopted a deep southern accent even though none of his brothers have it, or vote for someone who voted for the bailout? Get real when it comes to voting day im not going to let an airline seat sway my vote.
By Ed August 28, 2009 at 2:13 pm
The airline seat was a bad decision. Flying to China was a bad decision. These political junkets are a waste of time and money- unless you got a lover stashed away somewhere. Anyone that thinks a Governor creates jobs is living in a dream world.
She should be able to skewer anyone who voted for the bailout bill . If you can count, its easy to see a few grand extra for a ticket does not equal trillions of dollars of unaccounted for money to banker fat cats from our pockets.
Pushing for transparency and taking on the white boys who are bankrupting our state is her only chance.
It is a shame she aligned herself with Bozo the horny toad though.
By bob August 28, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Tee, So you are saying integrity, honesty, TRUTH, are not important to you.
By Paul August 28, 2009 at 2:19 pm
I don’t remember lots of things, either . . . namely Nikki Whats-Her-Name.
By StupidShouldHurtMore (SSHM) August 28, 2009 at 3:50 pm
@Tee,
I’ll see your airline seat and raise you $668,689 in hidden earmarks for things like:
* $69,274 for the Orchestra Association of SC to launch a marketing campaign for its new director.
* $90,000 for the Lexington Fun Fest
* $25,000 for Lexington Festivals, Inc.

She no different from any other politician in Columbia aside from the fact that her teflon coating is still fresh. At the end of the day, Sanfraud and his band of idiots are not worth pulling the lever for.

Tee, you are making gross asumptions on the array of choices. Also you are as confused as Sanfraud is. It ain’t where she sat, it is what the rules are and who paid.

So, she needs a “non-Argentinian man” to make her “not like” Sanford? Any takers?
By Huhhh??? August 28, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Is Nikki related to Sanford’s “Patel” lawyer?
By Philip Branton August 28, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Nikki, I am completely done with supporting you. When you are so willing to through Governor Sanford under the bus when he is going through a time when he needs his true friends. You have no loyalty and if you will do that to someone who supported you 100% than what will you do to the people of South Carolina when they need your help. Who will you through under the bus to save yourself?
By CNSYD August 28, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Frank, to borrow from an old saying, If you want a friend in Columbia get a dog.
By Independent Voter August 28, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Sanford, Haley, and the motley crue they have become has made it an easy choice of whom to vote for next run. As an Independent, I realize that if my vote is going to matter, MOST of the time I pick a Dem or Rep.
No hard-working, moderate in SC wanted the stimulus. We wanted a job, decent medical care, veteran care, etc. What we got was Sanford. Had he worked and been an effective PUBLIC SERVANT we would not be in such a mess.
Furthermore, First Lady, you’ve known him a long time. You had to know what he was doing for years and his mindset. You successfully put a man in office based on his ideals. The fact that you ran his campaign and he would not have won without you speaks volumes. Glad you can run to Sullivan’s Isle while a great part of SC is struggling to pay their utility bills. Why did you not just run for governor yourself? You are an heiress, from a more prosperous state, and do not, nor never did, truly understand the needs of South Carolinians.
By McFailure August 29, 2009 at 10:51 am
Phillip Branton is a dumbass
By Addie August 30, 2009 at 10:44 am
She is running on a platform of getting nothing done. She has not passed one bill in her 6 years. All just talk, talk, talk. We don’t need another do nothing Gov who has no influence in getting things done in SC. That Sikhism needs to go back to India. I bet she was one of Sanford’s other affairs he was talking about. I heard she was just about sitting in in lap in First Class. O wait a min she can’s remember where she was sitting I guess she had to much to drink that day too.

The thought of a minority (a female minority) becoming Govenor of the most politically backward State in the country is refreshing. There is hope.
I won’t vote for her. But there is hope.
Can’t help but laugh at the fact that if SC follows Arizona’s recent immigration laws…Haley and most her famliy could be targeted.
