A day after bashing the media and his political opponents and refusing to answer questions about the multiple scandals enveloping him, S.C. Gov. Whiny McWhinerson … err, Mark Sanford … is ditching his “Forgiveness Tour” to go on the warpath against his enemies.
Sanford will hold a “media availability” in Greenville, S.C. Thursday morning outside the law office of S.C. Sen. David Thomas, who had been leading the initial investigations into Sanford’s various travel abuses.
Our buds up at WSPA-TV in Spartanburg will be streaming the governor’s press conference live on their website. To watch it, click here …
Frankly, Sanford could not have picked a bigger boob to pick on first … Sen. Thomas is a complete and total idiot (and hypocrite) whose anti-business RINO credentials have long been established.
In other words, Thomas is the very definition of “low-hanging” fruit for a governor who is obviously spoiling for a fight …
Here’s our only problem with all this … whether Sanford is touring for “Forgiveness” or touring to drop bombs on his political enemies (as he threatened to do during yesterday’s tirade), this is NOT what our governor should be spending his time doing. Period.

For once, I agree with sic (for the record, I also agree that the shamecocks suck, but that’s not really much of a debate). Luv Guv shouldn’t spend his time this way. More importantly, he shouldn’t spend (more of) our money this way. The people of South Carolina are fed up with Marky Mark’s perpetual grandstanding and his blatant hypocrisy — not the calls for him to leave office.
The grandstanding started long before June 24. It started before he ever took office. It has continued for more than 6 years now, interrupted only by his many “vacations” and taxpayer-funded first class flights to South America and other exotic locales.
I assume he’s always been a hypocrite.

Well lets just hope he gives a long speech and the AP is there to get it all – that will show everyone just how nuts he really is – Maybe Maria
can translate for the foreign press

Thanks Sic. You’ve summed it up perfectly.

Judging from his public statements since Jenny’s no longer been in charge, I think this is a poor move. He should just shut it.

Will he have Davis, Ryberg, et al standing by him at this press conference or are they like cockroaches when the lights are turned on?

Lets face it Gov. Sanford is not going to get anything else done in the next year in a half. I am in full support of him spending the remainder of his term digging dirt on all the RINOs in this state. Hopefully it is good enough to get them voted out and leads to a much needed overhaul of the SC republican party.

Hope he has Pork and Barrel backing him up.

Who paid for this trip?

So, Sanford doesn’t like Thomas’ “selective outrage.” But while waving around the Greenville News, Sanford neglected to mention a quote from Thomas about Sanford’s list of other officials who had upgraded airline seats: “I think this is helpful,” Thomas said of the information. “We’ll take a look at it.”
No outrage there. That’s a reasonable comment.
And what “business development meeting” brought Sanford to Greenville and enabled him to take a little time off after doing state business to lambast Thomas? Yeah, sure, he had a previously scheduled meeting. Sanford just made another personal trip on the state’s dime.
Call a special session. Gov. Ratface has got to go.

Who’s paying for his expenses to drive to Greenville and stand outside Thomas’ office? What sucker would fall for that as a ‘legitimate expense’ and function of a high-ranking government official and pay tax dollars for it? Oh, wait…we already did…
