“Vacation, Had To Get Away”
With his poll numbers sliding and the nation continuing to voice its disapproval of his socialist policies, U.S. President Barack Obama flew to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts aboard Air Force One for a week-long family vacation.
There are no events on Obama’s public schedule this whole week, and one of the President’s spokesmen actually told the fawning national press corps that Obama wanted them to “take some walks on the beaches” while Obama unwinds at the $35,000 a week compound.
Not surprisingly, the national press corps responded by asking Obama’s spokesman if they were “rubbing the right spot” or if he wanted them to go “down a bit.”

Way to go, Obama. Maybe Sanford can join you. The only vacation the “little man” is getting is due to him losing his job.
If Obama had more experience, he wouldn’t burn out so quickly and be in need of a vacation.
Or perhaps it’s a “cover” for some sort of “meeting”. Gotta throw in the conspiracy theorist viewpoint as well. LOL
This guy will either be the biggest lame duck president in history or a dictator. We just keep voting in the winners. Whatta ya do when you’re offered the choice of loser vs loser?

So, who pays for this $35,000 a week vacation? Certainly BO isn’t going to pick up the check. Where does a guy get $35,000 to blow on a week at the beach?
This is an awfully expensive vacation. Who’s paying for it?

Why is it that guys campaign for years and spend megabucks to get to the White House and then when they get there they don’t want to stay there?

Obama is paying for his own vacation at $35,000. He also paid to remodel the private quarters at the White House out of his own pocket, unlike every other president who has used the $100,000 allocated, Obama never touched it.
And unlike other first families, the Obamas have been relatively frugal. Although I like Laura Bush, I was not fond of her decision to replace the White House “every day luncheon” china with 2 different sets in January, 2009, to the tune of $500,000. They were paid for with “private funds,” but did not send a great message at a time when the country was facing borderline depression.
As far as the number of vacation days taken, I refer you to the following:
———-
The Washington Post
August 7, 2001
CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 6 — By the time President Bush returns to Washington on Labor Day after the longest presidential vacation in 32 years, he will have spent all or part of 54 days since the inauguration at his parched but beloved ranch. That’s almost a quarter of his presidency.
Throw in four days last month at his parents’ seaside estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and 38 full or partial days at the presidential retreat at Camp David, and Bush will have spent 42 percent of his presidency at vacation spots or en route… ”
—
I don’t have a problem with policy criticism for any president. I’m certain that Bush worked on his vacation days as well. And just because the Obama’s are spending more of their own money on the basics does not mean he will have a great presidency. But get your facts straight before you start whining about 9 days of vacation. Throwing out such a great title on your post makes a for an easy challenge to those of us who follow presidential history.

Thank you, Ohara. What short memories people have. Especially when you consider that this infinite mess was created by W.

Mr. Obama deserves a nice vacation at an uber elite establishment. It’s hard work spending the monies of others!

you do realize how much vacation time george bush took right?
By CNSYD on August 25th, 2009 at 12:55 am
There is a back door way that Obama could be using to pay for his vacation spot. All his security is probably housed at the locale which means Uncle Sam would pay. If in the name of security they required a certain perimeter, then we are paying for it. This is not unique to Obama.

Only simpletons believe that ANY single US President can cause economic problems like we’re experiencing now by themselves. Re-read (or maybe find for the first time) the US Constitution- Congress drives this train almost as thoroughly as the Statehouse does here in backwards ol’ SC…
