Like former Eagles’ front man Don Henley sings in “The Heart of the Matter,” S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford “thinks it’s about forgiveness” … even if the people of South Carolina don’t love him anymore.

Now if we could just get him to finish the song and “learn to live without (us).”

Anyway, as the clouds begin to re-form over South Carolina’s troubled “Luv Gov,” Sanford is taking his case to an increasingly skeptical public at a series of Rotary meetings in various locales across the state. At one in Greenville, S.C., last Thursday, a real estate agent told Sanford he wasn’t “serving the higher purpose” by remaining in office.

Sanford’s response?

From the AP:

“I do believe in this notion of redemption, forgiveness, rebirth, hope and growth,” Sanford said. “I’m a broken person. … God can use broken people.”

Huh?

Seriously, people … where is the mute button on this governor?

While we go look for it, here’s Henley’s masterpiece …

This is nice, don’t get me wrong–but you should of played the Hell Freezes Over 1994 version he does with his Eagles band mates; it is a superb masterpiece–it is way prettier than this.

Henly is a great American poet. Your word “masterpiece” is a perfect description of that song.

What Luv Guv should do is “Pull a Bob Marley”. He’s got to get hold of Maria and bring her along on his “Redemption Tour”. Luv Guv and Maria could come “onstage” to the tune of Marley’s insightful classic, “Redeption Song”, followed up by the timeless “Is This Love”. If the Luv Guv is going to go for it, now is the time, if for no other reason that I can’t take any more Ice Princess and Friends!
