Strike A Pose, Jenny Sanford!

jenny vogue

S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford is striking a pose in the latest issue of Vogue magazine – and giving her most extensive comments yet on the affair that has her husband fighting for his political life.

In the wide-ranging interview – in which she is dubbed an “unlikely hero” – Jenny adopts a firm but conciliatory tone towards her embattled husband, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, still leaving the door open to a possible reconciliation but acknowledging that it will be “a harder road” than forgiveness (which she says she’s already granted him).

Described as “petite, clear-eyed, strong-willed, pious without being smug, smart without being caustic,” Jenny is shown in the most favorable light (duh, how do you think Vogue got the interview?) … basically, she’s presented as the new role model for women “wronged” by philandering political husbands.

That doesn’t mean the article isn’t without its awkward moments, though.

For example, a friend of the First Lady confided to Vogue that she and Jenny “Googled” her husband’s lover together, with Jenny reportedly concluding that Maria Belen Chapur was “pretty.”

Whoa … weird.

Jenny Sanford has done a fairly good job so far in remaining classy and dignified about this whole thing, but enough is enough. With this Vogue interview, she is almost stooping to her hopefully-soon-to-be-ex-husband’s level of shedding private marital woes with the world.

At this point, I think she is aiming more for trying to look like the poor, pitiful, long-suffering wife of an arrogant jerk for spite. Lets not forget the carefully timed departure from the Mansion.

How is it possible that a woman so smart and -let us not forget- more importantly politically skilled would sit back and publicly “forgive” a man who said he had to try to fall back in love with his wife???

Please Jenny- stop while you are ahead and do not sink to the level of the arrogant idiot you are married to-for now.

And to the General Assembly and Henry McMaster-enough of you as well. I for one, and I know I am not alone in this, are thoroughly disgusted by the fact that you have not worked to get this idiot out of office-and all because you don’t like the next in line. Guess what? Not your call. The voters of SC put him there(over your wonder-boy Campbell) and have chosen his replacement. Just because it does not fall in with your aggrandized plans for SC politics does not give you the right to make the entire state suffer any more humiliation at the hands of this joker sitting in the Governor’s Mansion.

does anyone know when this interview was done? Is she still open for reconciliation ??? Can’t believe it if it is so !!

By GGIH on August 17th, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Jenny Sanford never misses a note, does she? Perfect.

By Not Sayin', Just Sayin' on August 17th, 2009 at 6:20 pm

Good article. She’s a classy, matter-of-fact person — a combination not seen often enough in the public arena.

I see Vogue has air brushes.

What a classy lady! I truly admire her and know that she wand her boys will be fine.

By Boom Boom Room on August 17th, 2009 at 6:51 pm

Jenny is lookin’ kinda satisfied and relaxed in that pic ’cause she just got some SST (Sic’s Special Treatment). As concerns the Luv Guv, however, he obviously is not in love with Jenny. Will somebody please tell her that denial ain’t just a river in Egypt!

By anonymous on August 17th, 2009 at 7:24 pm

I like her better when she was haulin’ boxes, baskets, and clothes on hangers out of the governor’s mansion.

Now, she looks like she’s been spending an awful lot of time at the spa with a new make-over, new make-up, and a hottie little robe.

Looks like to me she’s on the dating circuit.

Jenny Sanford is ready, willing, and able for a new mate!

Any takers?

By anonymous on August 17th, 2009 at 7:27 pm

BTW, what’s that big stuffed thing thats she is holding with in hand with the big boob hanging to the side?

Man, that stuffed animal has big boobs!

By confused on August 17th, 2009 at 7:32 pm

what the hell is she wearing? is that a bathrobe?

By anonymous on August 17th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Let’s face face it, Jenny Sanford has been duped by the master manipulator Sanfraud over the last fifteen to twenty years.

She has no clue as to what he has been up to nor does anyone else.

The master master manipulator has duped everyone.

He is a con-artist.

She has no clue. Jenny Sanford has no clue.

wonder when this interview was done–pre or post walkout

¿¿Vogue??

By FITS Gals Translator on August 17th, 2009 at 8:56 pm

Vogue?? Incredible. I am latina woman and i like to be the first one and only woman in the life of my husband. That or nothing. I do not accept the women that relate to married men, the refusal. But of this case what INTRIGUES me is that the lover, in reality, Maria Belen, is the only person of the love triangle that herself is not exhibited, that does not take advantage of situations. she is different to all the other lovers. Someone knows why she is so protected?

Hells bells– when’s sheeze a goin’ ‘nounce her bid fer th’ damn gobernership of dis here state? Gettin’ her “sexy back” is part ov dat process, ain’t it?

God hab mercie on us all!!!

By bob on August 17th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

This lady does not look like the Jenny we have been seeing lately.
Personally, I don’t think that outfit is very dignified. Is she sending another message?

By Jean Thomas on August 17th, 2009 at 10:17 pm

I had a lot of respect for Jenny at first. Then she spent a weekend calling around to the state senators and US senators, asking for another chance for Mark. Now she has left him and we are stuck with him!

By Jeannie on August 17th, 2009 at 11:07 pm

Looking good is the best revenge. She deserves her own soul mate and I bet a lot of rich, available widowers or divorced men are waiting to sink their hooks. Jenny is not a bad catch. The boys also seem to support their mother – why not with an absentee dad. Let him go start his new life with that homewrecker, see how long that one is going to last before he cheats on her or finally discover that his “soul mate” was the one he left and not the one he ran to. Too bad, Jenny would be snapped up quickly. And all of Sanford’s friends have already deserted him. He will have no one but his mother and his “soul mate”.

By shiya on August 18th, 2009 at 12:25 am

Is Sanford back? He has only 2 public events scheduled for this week and both are rotary club speeches. Now wonder he thought he could go awol for 10 days without being missed.

By corblu800 on August 18th, 2009 at 7:29 am

“We weren’t madly in love, but we were compatible and good friends,”

“I also feel sorry for the other woman. I am sure she is a fine person. It can’t be fun for her, though I do sometimes question her judgment.”

“The person I married was centered on a core of morals. The person who did this is not centered on those morals.”

Geez …. she sounds as emotionally involved in this as the rather large hat she’s carrying.

So much for asking everybody to respect the “zone of privacy” around the kids and family. You lost some high road with this publicity seeking, Jenny.
Now please both of you … SHUT UP.

By COURTNEY on August 18th, 2009 at 7:32 am

For goodness sakes…she lives at the beach and it is called a bathing suit coverup! Look and you can see the bottom of her suit right through it …don’t make this out to be more than it is ! I commend her for getting on with her life and showing everyone what Mark has chosen to cast aside. She will definitely be an example of one mans trash is another man’s treasure. She looks good for her age people, and considering what she has probably had to put up with living with Mark, she deserves whatever happiness she can find. I would think that her boys are proud of her for taking a stand against that immoral sperm donor who calls himself the father of these boys. I,for one,am glad that she came out with this article so we could see understand her a little more clearly. Mark is a slug and should be put out of office because of his political improprieties and most definitely out of this marriage because of his marital infidelities.Once a dog, always a dog and if Maria has chosen to continue this ongoing relationship with a married man, she deserves him and whatever hardship comes with his stimulus package and Maria, as well, once a bitch, always a bitch!

By Margaret on August 18th, 2009 at 7:51 am

I agree with Courtney…for goodness sakes…my thoughts exactly!

By Aprice on August 18th, 2009 at 8:11 am

She is as devious and manipulative as her husband. She eschews the press, yet is contantly courting them. She demands a “zone of privacy” and then pops up in a national publication dressed in a bathing suit cover up?! Among other things, this woman has absolutely NO fashion sense. If she had wanted to play the “virginal” scorned and much-maligned wife, she should have been wearing white linen pants, white silk blouse with 3-quarter length sleeves, a multicolored scarf belt, white sandals, and pearls. And, NO hat!

By CAE Native on August 18th, 2009 at 8:44 am

Jenny is a 47 y. o. “troll”…and Mark now has a smoking hot “hottie”. Kudos to Mark. Every man needs a young honey and most have one…or want one! Who could blame him? Just take care of the boys and move on. Marrige is a waste for most people.

By Pamela on August 18th, 2009 at 8:46 am

ditto Courtney,

By follydude on August 18th, 2009 at 8:50 am

once she gets a big piece of the $1.6 Million political war chest that Daddy gave Mark, she’ll be all set to fit in with the Vogue crowd.

maybe bankrupt Annie Liebowitz will give her a special.

By BOYSMOM on August 18th, 2009 at 8:58 am

I fully agree with Courtney also….Cheers for Jenny!!!

By scooter on August 18th, 2009 at 10:14 am

Thank you, SunnySC. I agree with you. Sanford is still here partly because The State Paper and a few others do not like the next in line. You pinpointed the problem perfectly. Shame on them. We do not deserve SAnford’s lies, AWOL behavior and all the rest. Let the system take its course. Give us someone who knows how to work.

By scooter on August 18th, 2009 at 10:18 am

Can’t go along with Courtney. This women has a great deal of political sense, and this has put her in a situation that begs the question of her request for privacy. I do not trust her anymore than I do him. I do not agree with his behavior with Maria, but, Jenny has the money and connections to stay out of the limelight.

By shiya on August 18th, 2009 at 10:30 am

She gave this interview before she moved out…I am sure her the interview was partly to reclaim her self-esteem after he announced to the world that he was trying to fall back in love with her…c’mon, any woman would want to explain why she took him back after that statement. I dont grudge her that at all…give her a break. This is just her SECOND interview in 6 weeks after that contant babbling by her husband. The more she talks, the more he looks a fool, so I say, more power to her. she is winning a lot of fans even from the mainstream press. why should the wronged wife always keep quiet?

By COURTNEY on August 18th, 2009 at 11:13 am

I don’t think that she was trying to play the virginal scorned wife at all so there was no need to dress the part. I think that after his repeated need to talk to the press about his soulmate and his making this marriage look like even more of a farce than his leadership as governor has been,Jenny is only right to come out publically for the second time since all this mess began and let everyone know where she stands with all of this. I believe that she is politically savvy…cause he sure has no brains in that department but once keep in mind as she was moving out from the mansion she could have been sitting in the beach house and having the move carried out by professional movers since she is the one with the purse strings. Markie was telling the press that they were not getting a divorce while she was smiling as she toted the boxes and hangers to the SUV.Talk about dillusional !!! I say more power to her !! Let him go climb the Argentinian tail all he wants !!!

By Pamela on August 18th, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I believe this interview was before the trip overseas, because she moved out as soon as she got back ( with a little help from her friends & SONS,He is the one who refuses to wear his wedding band & I believe the WHOLE FAMILY, SONS INCLUDED. now know he is a lost cause, He needs to resign so this can be over for S.C. Jenny stay classy & smart, you gave him more chances than most women would, & you are right you cannot live a productive life with hatred in your heart. May God bless you and your children.

By CNSYD on August 18th, 2009 at 1:09 pm

shiya, you are forgetting the non verbal interview where she and her girl pals notified the media to be sure they would be there to record her moving out of the mansion.

By QuestionBox on August 18th, 2009 at 1:42 pm

they both talk about Christian values but I have not seen in ANY article or blog what church they attend. Does anybody know? and I would like to know do they attend regularly or is that just “conservative” speak?

By shiya on August 18th, 2009 at 3:09 pm

God help me, CNSYD..at this stage, I will take all the “non-interviews” I can than the verbal ones.

By who is that on August 18th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Who is that woman in the photo?
It looks nothing like the woman who has impersonated as a gracious first lady of SC for the past 7 years.

It’s not even her face.

Looks nothing like her.

By Ionu on August 18th, 2009 at 6:50 pm

I do not think that is Jenny in the picture. Airbrushes do nice tricks, but this lady looks exactly like someone totally different.

Jenny Sanford… “47″ going on 58. Nice picture by the way, did she just get done with her own nooner and just threw her bathrobe on? I would think Vogue magazine would have graphic artists more talented than with the amateur Photoshopping done on this picture.

I hear Jenny was paid by Vogue for this interview. Anyone know if there’s any truth to that?

By Pat McCright on August 19th, 2009 at 9:20 am

Why don’t you guys bash the looks of the love guv? He certainly is not handsome in any way at all – way too skinny and his skin looks like he might have cancer. Also, he has no lips.

Jenny looks GREAT for her age. She is thin and rich!

By Gina on August 19th, 2009 at 10:26 am

You guys ahould check out this video—-its an interview/speech
Jenny gave at the Robert Dole Institute on
“First Spouses: Changing Roles & Expectations”
dated April 2008.
Very interesting…..

Someone asks her ‘about the Eliot Spitzer situation’

New Yorkers for Jenny. Now how much more proof do you need that she is a carpetbagger who thinks she is God’s gift to we poor, dumb, backward hicks?

By Bear on August 19th, 2009 at 11:12 am

For someone who wants the media to leave them alone, seems like she is not helping. Give it a rest. I am sure she has some motive for doing this. She is a sharp woman and will get the most out of the deal.

By shiya on August 19th, 2009 at 12:11 pm

For heavenb’s sake, the vogue interview was conducted during the early days of the scandal…on JULY 9…she has moved on AND stayed silent since then.
