That Hotline Guy Is More Popular Than Ever …
If you are like most South Carolina politicos, you stopped reading the website SC Hotline several years ago … assuming you ever read it at all.
If you were smart, you probably also stopped taking editor Jeffrey Sewell’s phone calls several years ago … unless of course you enjoy drunk people slurring unintelligible observations and laughable threats into your ear at all hours of the night.
Amazingly, though, Sewell still thinks of himself as a “best-in-class” political consultant, and continues to view his “blog” as a real “deciderer” in S.C. politics. In fact, his new “corporate” website boasts access to SC Hotline, which he claims is “South Carolina’s most popular political website.”
Here’s the screen grab:
Hmmm … “South Carolina’s most popular political website?”
Really?
According to the most recent data we’ve seen, SC Hotline is in fact South Carolina’s least popular website, boasting only 3,000 unique visitors each month (or roughly 5% of our monthly audience).
Sewell was also the runaway winner of our recent “slow zebra” competition … if that tells you anything.
Why do we still pick on him? Simple … we enjoy listening to the alcohol-soaked “crazy” he leaves on our answering machines every time we write about him.
