We know that the University of South Carolina’s starting quarterback is named Stephen … not Sergio Garcia.
We know this.
We also know that Sergio Garcia is every bit as likely to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy as the notoriously inconsistent Gamecock sophomore, which is pretty amazing considering that “El Nino” is a professional golfer … who stands 5”10″ and weighs 160 pounds. And is 29 years old, which is “up there” for a college quarterback even by Chris Weinke standards.
So why then, would Stephen Garcia strike a Heisman pose at USC’s media day last weekend?
Sure, it was a joke … we get that, but has Garcia progressed to the point that he is allowed to strike the pose even in jest?
Seriously, people … according to Shamecock head coach Steve Spurrier, the Florida high school standout can’t even throw a spiral yet (at least not accurately).
Who does he think he is … CJ Spiller?
Anyway, as Madonna once said, “there’s nothing to” striking a pose. Finishing better than fourth in the SEC East, though?
Like Dat Boy, Garcia may think striking a Heisman pose is cute … but our advice to him is to win nine games in the SEC (in one season, mind you) and then get back to us.

Win 9 games. Now you gamecocks are really smoking to much crack.

Fits please keep your century club money and stay home this year.

Please don’t ever use C.J. Spiller in the same sentence as Stephen Garcia again. Spiller, by the estimation of most scouts and pundits is considered to be one of the top 3 (depending on who you ask) backs in the nation this year and a lock for a first round NFL draft selection. Garcia, simply put, is nothing at this point.

Hey Barney, two whole sentences and only one error. Good job (for a Clemson fan)!!

Now that his bag man Axon will not be at USC what will Garcia do?
By jeffy August 11, 2009 at 4:06 pm
Kawasaki are you a Gamecock Club snob. Whats up with you dissing the century club? Only Silver Spurs can comment on football? (Ands FITS is right….just win the games baby)

LOL, that Heisman candidate Spiller only had about 400 more rushing yards than Stephen Garcia in 2008, typical delusional taters!
By who made you commish August 11, 2009 at 7:09 pm
titsnews,
you probably can’t spell SEC…
By CNSYD August 11, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Stimulus, Spiller could have had more but it wasn’t needed to beat the hell out of the lamecocks. Make sure you subtract all the yardage Garcia lost from what he gained.

Jeffie no I’m not a GC snob I’m just tired of Fits and his negative attitude.I agree just win but his attitude does not help so stay home and listen to Tommy (say hello to Mr.& Mrs. so and so)Suggus and Mr.Interception.

Well, you can say what you want, but the gurus who get paid to analyze players (including those who write for the NFL website) all think Spiller is elite and a surefire first round pick. So, b/t them and any random stranger on an internet message board, I think I know who I believe.
As for Garcia, I’m not saying he won’t eventually be a good or maybe even great quarterback. He’s just off to a pretty poor start. And he seems to have had attitude problems, as well.
By Stimulus August 12, 2009 at 11:43 am
didn’t James Davis come back because he wanted to be a 1st rounder??? also, those same experts said Willard Crack Corn would be a Heisman candidate.
By CNSYD August 12, 2009 at 2:01 pm
stimulus, maybe they need George to show them how to handle the white lines. IRT Davis, he may not be there tomorrow but as of today he is in the NFL unlike the USC east Davis.

I think it is too early for little games like that by Mr. Garcia.
I also think that Spiller has never been THE guy at Clemson and this year, we’ll see how durable he is.
I say he misses a couple of starts because he can’t take the pounding.
By Crooner August 24, 2009 at 2:30 pm
I’ve stood next to Sergio. He ain’t 5’10″.
