That’s not uber-liberal special interest lobbyist Dwight Drake in the picture above, but it is someone who is struggling mightily with an ear hair problem.

What does that have to do with anything?

Well, as was reported first on FITS over two weeks ago, Drake (a.k.a. “Ear Hair”) – a lobbyist with Nelson Mullins law firm – is running for governor. Except from the looks of the eight-minute campaign commercial he’s using to launch his campaign, there appears to have been some serious trimming of his auditory bushes.

Drake is holding a conference call with reporters at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to formally announce his entry into the race, which he informally announced to a group of his special interest friends at a beer and wine mixer last night at his swanky downtown Columbia, S.C. home.

Drake’s candidacy – which will no doubt benefit from gobs of liberal special interest money – answers a very important question about the 2010 gubernatorial race …

Specifically, are Democrats stupid enough to run the ultimate State House insider (a guy who gives new meaning to the term “skeletons in the closet”) for governor?

Ummm … “yes,” people. It would appear they really are that stupid.

Drake’s campaign is being pushed aggressively by former S.C. Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian, who sources tell FITS knows about Drake’s past better than most.

Drake becomes the fifth credible Democratic candidate to announce his gubernatorial ambitions, joining S.C. Senators Vincent Sheheen and Robert Ford, State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex and Charleston attorney Mullins McLeod. Also looking at mounting a bid is House Minority Leader Harry Ott.

Stay tuned … we’re sure it won’t be long before the fireworks start flying in this race!

Yeah, you speculated. I confirmed it. Nice try though.

This is gonna be great. Another scuz-ball, with a private life right out of the trailer park, tumbles, into the race.

Press conference questions for Mr. Drake:
1. Would you list the drugs you have taken, by name and pharmaceutical class?
2. Have you ever been investigated for the death of a woman other than your wife?
3. Which industry has the best fringe (wink wink) benefits for its lobbyist…payday lending, booze or cigarettes?

Perhaps Bauer, McMaster Barrett and Sanford are footing Drake’s bill…in hope he will make them look like moral human beings.

Normally I view the hijinks of the Democrats as entertaining and sometimes, even downright necessary. But they have outdone themselves on this bone-headed move. Please, Dick, stop this madness now. I’m a Democrat and I won’t vote for this greaseball.

There was some serious man-scaping going on before Drake shot that video.

I should know. It was hard looking that pretty on Miami Vice.

Dwight Drake is the Republican Party’s last best chance to keep the Governor’s Mansion. There is no way Drake can win a General Election – not because he is too liberal, but because he is an amoral insider. Granted, there may be a few voters out there who think amoral insiderism will be a step up from immoral narcissism. But, the easiest path to victory for Henry or Gresham and perhaps the ONLY path for Andre is to draw Drake as an opponent.

I won’t even look at the name when I pull the opposite lever from the scum list the SC GOP is choosing from.

All I can say is Hodges and Harpoot-poot-lian have done a big one. What could they be thinking? This guy, with all his lobbyist money, will assure another R victory.
The R party in this state must be cheering right about now.

I just read Drake’s announcement. I’m excited. Finally, we may have a governor who does not oppose government. I know, just like in the last two elections, the editor of FITS will endorse whomever wants to lower his taxes. An immoral hypocrit, secret libertarian, who can’t get anything done because he refuses to politic with the legislature. This “no tax” guy is the FITS endorsee. Meanwhile, the candidate who says’ “restructure state government” gets The State newspaper’s endorsement. No matter that he cannot work with the legislature to actually accomplish anything. No matter that he wants to fly around like a king. If he can repeat, “restructure state government” often enough, The State’s editorial board is endorsing him.
Meanwhile, FITS ctiticizes Drake for ear hair. Ear hair? One day, you too, Mr. Folks will have ear hair.

Elliott: you may want to read this before you get to excited:

Drake has no better chance in a General Election than Robert Ford.

Dwight is funny with some one-liners. It would be fun to have him for at least at little while.
