McMaster To Rake In Trial Lawyer Cash
S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster has been talking generically about “creating jobs” in South Carolina for months now as a run-up to his announcement of a 2010 Republican gubernatorial campaign.
The presumed GOP front-runner, McMaster will no doubt continue to generically talk about “creating jobs” given the state’s 12.1% unemployment rate and lagging personal income levels.
But while saying one thing on the campaign trail, McMaster is reportedly lining his pockets with special interest cash from some of the state’s most anti-competitive forces – the state’s entrenched network of personal injury lawyers.
For example, McMaster is reportedly attending a fund-raiser this weekend on Hilton Head Island, which is where the s0-called “S.C. Association for Justice” (a.k.a. the S.C. Trial Lawyers Association) is holding its annual retreat.
Coincidence?
Of course not …
We’ve written in the past about how McMaster’s campaign disclosure form is littered with contributions from these parasites, and it certainly appears as if he’s going back to the well again now that he’s trailing in the 2010 GOP money race for the first time.
Also, as we’ve reported previously, McMaster’s consulting firm receives a fat monthly retainer from the trial lawyers, which means he has ready access to this fount of special interest cash.

This is one trial attorney who will be supporting Nikki Haley. I have to believe the Republican voters in SC aren’t stupid enough to vote McMaster out of the primary… but then again it was our state that put McCain over as the presidential nominee. Maybe SC Republicans just love voting for Irish sounding candidates.

Although I believe most trial lawyers are leeches perhaps the dumb ones such as yourself are well meaning people with an extremely low intellect and therefore you believe that trial lawyers help people. Perhaps the reason you are supporting Nikki is because you are in incompetent trial lawyer. A name like O’Leary is Irish. McMaster is Scottish. Please get you UK geography right.

and for the record, lawyers create jobs, and run a business….those people in the office behind the desk and in the file rooms…they are not volunteers. They are employees with a wage, benefit plan, and in some cases probably a 401 plan.
