Education Falling Off Of Voters’ Radar

South Carolina voters are increasingly concerned with economic and fiscal issues like jobs, taxes and government spending, and less concerned with issues like education, health care and public safety.

At least that’s the conclusion of two independent politicos privy to recent internal polling from different GOP gubernatorial campaigns.

“Education was fourth on our matrix of issues – a distant fourth,” one of the politicos told FITS. “I’ve never seen it that low before.”

Looking at a completely different set of numbers, a pollster for a rival GOP campaign agreed, but added that an enhanced focus on economic issues during difficult economic times was “normal.”

Neither source would discuss specific numbers about the governor’s race – or any other statewide races – except to say (surprise) that their candidate was ahead in the race.

Obviously, we take internal polling with an ocean of salt around here, but it’s interesting that two different polls are showing such similar trends with respect to which issues that matter to South Carolinians.

Also interesting?

Radar is spelled the same way backwards and forwards. Sort of like Hannah.

Cool, huh?

Betcha didn’t know that …

Anyway, what’s your take? What do you think is the most important issue facing South Carolina?

What is South Carolina's most pressing concern?

Sure is hard to say, they all rely upon each other to function properly.

Gotta go with education. If we want a better future we’ve got to educate properly. Jobs can be created through education by hiring more teachers, aides, bus drivers, etc. My daughter’s schools have always had excellent nurses and teachers and if they noticed some health issue with a child they would see that it got properly treated. (Gotta give a shout-out here in Cheraw to Principal Scott Eddins, our PTOs, teachers, Principal Kim Burch, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, etc.)

Lots of them are politically active so they keep up with government spending somewhat and voice their concerns.

School district employees get paid too much, they should share the wealth and economize more.

If politicos like Sanfraud would be honest (he knew his role, could have used his imagination instead of chasing Argentine ass) and get their shit together we could focus more on improving these areas instead of worrying about how government is spending money.

Just my take on things.
