Barack Obama Is Confused
U.S. President Barack Obama held a news conference last night to try and rally support for his tanking health care proposal.
It seemed like a good idea … at least until he made the argument that spending $1.6 trillion (which we don’t have) to add to an unprecedented, unsustainable avalanche of deficit spending was somehow key to “controlling our deficit.”
From Reuters:
President Barack Obama said on Wednesday a broad healthcare overhaul was critical to a U.S. economic recovery and urged Congress to take advantage of momentum behind the reform package, despite doubts about the plan even among fellow Democrats.
In a televised evening news conference, Obama said the biggest driving force behind the federal deficit was skyrocketing healthcare costs for the government’s Medicare program of healthcare for the elderly and Medicaid for the poor.
“If we do not control these costs, we will not be able to control our deficit,” he said after another day when leaders in Congress struggled to find common ground on the cost and scope of a healthcare plan, Obama’s top legislative priority.
So to recap, according to the president the best way to get skinny is to shove food down your throat.
Hmmm … we’re guessing Obama’s teleprompter did not approve that message.

The President looked like an uninformed spokesman for the administration, not the President of the United States. DeMint called it.

Obama is as clueless, out of touch, and self-serving as Mark Sandford.

I hope Obama doesn’t “rescue healthcare” like he “rescued” the economy!

Maybe he goes to the Sanford For Pres 2012 school of mathematics
365 x 24 x 7.25 = $63,510
What the governor would earn if he worked the 24/7 he claims he does at minimum wage….considering his salary and time off, he’s probably making out…in the numerical sense too

When the house of cards comes tumbling down, the all fall fast.
Whats the difference between Obama and Michael Jackson? One lives in a fantasy neverland and the other was the biggest entertainer in history.
Obamacare will never see the light of day.

I cant wait to pay for all the fat people’s health care as they get older. I stay slender, work out,and eat the right kinds of foods. Yet I will be forced to pay higher taxes to buy knee replacements, insulin medications, and various other expensive crap so fat people can continue to est(and smoke) too much.
I guess this health care reform is all just part of my “individual liberty” and freedom to choose.
I realize this health care plan is being created by lobbyists , but I say tax people based on their weight and their use of tobacco.

Not only is The Big Naught confused he was also thrown under the bus by Senate Democrats. These fine gentlemen gave him the one finger salute as soon as the kleig lights were turned off. Seems they won’t get around to a vote on obamacare until after their recess.
Apparently they aren’t as concerned about ruining his presidency as they are with saving their own asses in the 2010 elections.

There are currently 46 million uninsured according to NCHC. That’s 15.6% of the population give or take. Wouldn’t that mean that 84.4% of the population HAVE healthcare?
And they want to pass one of the largest and most dramatic bills in under two weeks? Or are they trying to pass it before Americans realize how absurd socialized healthcare is?

Hey Ben,
You do realize that is the reason that your premiums are going up on your own insurance(lucky you are able to have some) right now right? Because of “fat” people and people who cannot afford insurance and have to use the emergency room but don’t have any because they DON’T HAVE MONEY to pay. So hospitals pass those costs to insurance companies. Please don’t generalize the American people who do not have health insurance you greedy jerk. The point is you are going to pay a higher cost either way…the question is would you rather pay higher costs to your insurance company and help no one or would you rather pay it another way and help everyone? The point is the uninsured Americans that you don’t care for will affect you regardless, no matter which one you choose, you would pay less while helping America be healthy. Stop listening to conservatives and their scare speeches, get the facts before you open your mouth. They don’t want to help Americans, they are ONLY for big business(oil, insurance, financial, etc). Unless YOU are wealthy, they don’t care about you, just your vote.

46 million, 100 billion, 22 thousand, 200….what does it matter. The point is they are uninsured and mostly not because they choose to as I am. I cannot afford the premiums offered by any insurance company, so what do i do? They want to pass it by the end of the year because if we don’t then Conservative media could slam more lies to people and slant things so much that possible could change the outcome of some elections next year and then what? Not enough votes to get it passed and then we will never get anything passed because Republicans don’t want reform, just like in 1994 when they BS’ed about reform and weaseled their way out of that with a controlled congress the next year. We don’t want it to happen again, that is why it needs to be done NOW and NOT later. It is not fast enough as far as I’m concerned, I can’t wait for it to be passed, I NEED HEALTH COVERAGE NOW.

“46 million, 100 billion, 22 thousand, 200….what does it matter. The point is they are uninsured and mostly not because they choose to as I am.”
That is simply not true. I get so tired of people unquestionably accepting the misinformation Obama spreads on a daily basis. Almost 18 million of those 46 million people make more than $50,000 per year (almost 10 million make over $75,000). More than 18 million are under 34. Combining those factors, you have two demographics that are very likely to eschew health insurance because they believe they won’t get sick or they can afford whatever costs they incur.
Another 10/11 million are on Medicare and Medicaid, which is not counted in the 46 number. 10 million of that 46 are not U.S. citizens, they are aliens (the Democrats have rejected any attempts to screen out illegal immigrants in their healthcare plan). On top of that, nearly half of the total (over 20 million) were only uninsured for 4 months or less, likely because they were transitioning between jobs.
These numbers are hard to sort out, because one person can fall in multiple categories. But BlueCross puts the real number of chronically uninsured at 8 million (less than 3% of Americans). I think that is too low, and I agree with the doctor’s testimony linked below that it is probably more like 15 million. But that is still only 5% of the population. That means 95% of AMERICANS either have insurance, are getting government care, or don’t want to pay for insurance. So tell me again why we are going to incur a budget killing, inefficient, trillion dollar boondoggle?

Jay, Tell me why I should be required to shoulder the burden of providing health care to people like you. I work for my money, my money goes to support my family. Why am I responsible for you? At what point did you become my problem? Just because you draw breath doesn’t give you the right to steal from me and my family.
