Legendary TV anchor Walter Cronkite is dead, which is sad.
The guy had a great voice and he certainly gave off a trustworthy vibe, but forgive us for not buying into the whole legendary journalist thing.
Cronkite was an anchor, people – which means his job was to read for a living. Seriously, the real enterprise reporting and news analysis was done by other people – like Cronkite’s army of reporters and producers at CBS News.
Hell, Cronkite’s most famous moment – getting choked up at the death of President Kennedy – came while reading the friggin’ UPI wire.
Aspiring journalists take note – anybody can read off a prompter.
Wanna be a real journalist? Try P.J. O’Rourke, or Veronica Guerin … or Ron Burgandy.

I’ve long known that the way you can tell a Republican is lying is when his lips are moving, but this really takes that to a new level.
Walter Cronkite spent decades as a reporter long before he ever stepped into the anchor chair. As a correspondent with UPI during WW II, he went ashore with U.S. forces against into a hail of Nazi bullets in North Africa, and landed in a frickin’ glider with American troops at Normandy during D-Day.
All of you GOP twerps are incapable of free-thinking and it has been a goal of all of you since Cronkite refused to roll for the crook Nixon to ruin him.
You failed, but a few tail-enders like yourself failed to get the memo from on high to lay off the old man. I’m sure the drug-addict, thrice divorced Rush Limbaugh will take a similar tact tom’w.
Only in your little inbred GOP world where AWOL drunks like George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney and his six deferrmrents during Vietnam are great champions of bravery and patriotism, and Jenny Sanford, who claimed publicly she didn’t care about her husband’s career, only about her children, while privately whe was calling GOP politicians to lobby them to not kick her, I mean her husband, out of the Governor’s mansion, is a great lady, does this little commentary makes sense.
To real Americans who think for themselves this is another example, like your slavish service suckling at the teats of King David and his wife, “She Who Must Be Obeyed by Lindsay Graham and Tom Davis,” all these years just how foolish you are capable of being.
Now go back to telling us how Nikki,”it’s first class or stay home for me,” Haley is the real champion of the SC taxpayer.

Madcock,
We rip everybody around here when they deserve it – Sanford, Mrs. Sanford, Haley, you name it.
Oh, and we’ve ripped Limbaugh, Cheney and Bush repeatedly, including the article where we dubbed “Dub-ya” the worst president ever (obviously pre-Obama).
You are obviously a new reader.

Once again, Sic, you prove the only thing you’re good at is writing smear pieces.
I’m sure given how many times you’ve been off base over the years (just like now) Cronkite would agree with me that your website has about has about as much journalistic quality as the writings on a restroom stall.
As was mentioned in another post, Cronkite had more street cred than your drunken frat-boy ass ever will. The only reason people read this crap is to lament what reporting has become.

Ripping people in blogs has become the norm these days, so unfortunately is getting facts wrong. In this case you did both, and showed just how ignorant you are.
