Pool Pregnancy

File this one under bad maternal instincts … or Polish jokes.

Take your pick.

Polish mother Magdalena Kwiatkowska claims that a “stray sperm” in a swimming pool at an Egyptian hotel somehow managed to impregnate her thirteen-year-old daughter.

“The mother is adamant that her daughter didn’t meet any boys while she was (in Egypt),” a tourism industry official told the Sun UK.

Ummm … okay. Good luck with that one, mom. Dispensing with more likely scenarios, is something like this even possible? Seriously, we know some “swimmers” are better than others, but is there a sperm capable of accomplishing such a prodigious feat?

WikiAnswers is sadly no help whatsover, which means that further research (NOT involving thirteen-year-olds, hopefully) needs to be conducted on this subject.

Any volunteers?

Seriously, if science can create sperm, it should be able to ascertain the limits of their endurance.

BTW, here’s a high rez shot of Sic Willie’s pool girl … (who is thankfully neither pregnant nor thirteen).

Interesting scenario, but I doubt the chlorine level in any public pool would allow sperm to survive at all. Males have a built in mechanism within their bodies that prevents urine (which also travels through the same urethra) from mixing with healthy sperm for a reason. The acid level of urine destroys sperm, so I can’t imagine how any of those champion swimmers would survive, let alone make their way into the birth canal. Even without any urine present, sperm generally die within 24 hours of release, so it’s not like they’re the most hearty of cells. That’s one of the reasons men develop thousands of new sperm cells every day.

All false. I know BIN has survived a swim before. (with float wings on of course)
