Walker Disclosure Raises Questions
A top bureaucratic union consultant – and former S.C. lawmaker – could be in hot water after disclosing a questionable contribution on his most recent state ethics filing.
According to campaign disclosure documents, former S.C. House Education Chairman Bob Walker paid $8,000 to “Campaign Research & Strategy” – a flaming (literally) liberal political consulting firm based in Columbia, S.C.
Why is this relevant?
Well, FITS readers will recall that this is the same company which ran the “sore loser” stretch of Walker’s unsuccessful reelection campaign last year – a Quixotic “write-in” bid that the former RINO elected official allegedly managed behind the scenes despite the fact that a judge ordered him not to campaign.
Details are murky, but we know that Campaign Research & Strategy handled political mailings for Walker’s write-in bid, which filed its paperwork at the last minute to circumvent campaign disclosure laws.
Now, less than a year later, Walker is paying them $8,000 for “consulting services?”
Something’s fishy …
Walker – one of the most liberal Republicans ever to serve at the S.C. State House (which is saying something) – was defeated in last year’s Republican primary election by Rep. Joey Millwood, who went on to win in November and has since posted one of strongest fiscally conservative voting records in the S.C. General Assembly.
If Walker is running again – in a socially conservative district that votes 75% Republican, mind you – it’s doubtful these bedfellows are going to be effective communicators on his behalf.
Of course, his record of gutting academic accountability, union-shilling and general RINOsity probably won’t help his chances, either.
