debt-clock

Since America’s exploding debt has gotten too big for the old national debt clock (literally), there’s only one place on the planet with enough room for the growing ginormosity of our country’s steadily-deteriorating fiscal position.

Where’s that?

The Internet.

That’s right, the U.S. Debt Clock is now online … at USDebtClock.org, conveniently.

This website has it all – including live, up-to-the-minute data on the national debt, government spending, deficit spending, bailout spending, trade deficits and unfunded liabilities.

It’s also got updated unemployment and foreclosure data.

Here’s a peek …

Seriously, people. Five minutes of watching these numbers ticking heavenward will make you want to vote out every politician in Washington D.C.

It’s like watching the Matrix … except you don’t get to hook up with Trinity at the end.

So, it’s at roughly $11.4 trillion now? Quick, which three presidents are responsible for 9 trillion ($9,000,000,000,000) of that amount?

If you said Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, give yourself a Pabst Blue Ribbon.

It seems Marky Mark isn’t the only one who says one thing and does another when it comes to spending other people’s money.

@peyton. And blaming past presidents does what to help lower the debt?

big numbers… they scare me…

By confused on July 10th, 2009 at 9:59 pm

so, peyton, your point is that in 20 years of presidency, those guys ran up 9 trillion, and in less than half a year, ‘bama’s run up 2.5. and it appears you’re using that point to…uhm… i’m not sure what. i mean, you pro-rate barry’s rate of spending over 20 years, and you come up with 100 trillion, give or take a few billion. so, bama’s 10 times more profligate with money than the last three republican presidents. yes, i see your point. thanks for sharing.

Confused, I think you are confused, Peyton Manning sucks was just correctly noting that of the current debt approximately 9 trillion was run up under 3 particular Republican Admnistrtions – Mor like 8.7ish – but I digress, the other 2.5 trillion you speak of didn’t happen all under Obama’s watch though, the nation debt was approximately 10.6 Trillion when Obama took office…now if they hadn’t gone and passed the foolish .787 trillion dollar stimulus bill, he would actually be doing great right now with his debt record despite HUGE ongoing obligations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, it is not likely he will be passing a .787 trillion dollar spending package every quarter or so (GOD HELP US IF SO). The debt has gone up about .85 trillion under Obama thus far and almost all of that was the ill-advised stimulous.

The government tells you that the debt is $11 trillion. Do you believe that the government owes people the Social Security and Medicare benefits that the people have been promised? You have paid into the systems. Do they owe you anything in return? If so, then the true debt is more than $61 trillion that $202,000 for every man, woman and child in the country. why do we pay taxes? The Fed prints the money out of thin air and it is not backed buy gold. Then the government borrows the money from them and we the tax payer have to pay it back at intrest we also have to pay back the money that is un accounted for that the Fed gives away to their rich buddies. what we need is a tax revolt. I dont understand why their is a deficite, because the Fed is illeagal by the constitution. The Fed has inslaved the intire country to the government. We are not a free country contrary to popular belief. If we did not have so many laws their would not be so many people in jail.

US citizens are stupid, in general. We are too busy with our daily lives to care about something so trivial. Plus, your kids will pay it back, not me. Great isn’t it!
