Sanford Conflagration Update
S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford was on a publicly-disclosed trade mission to Europe – not canoodling with his Argentine lover – during the first two days of a destructive fire that swept through the popular coastal town of Myrtle Beach, S.C. in April of this year.
Of course, this hasn’t stopped rumors that Sanford was with Maria Belen Chapur at the time from spreading like … well, “wild fire.”
“It’s all over the place,” one well-connected Palmetto politico told FITS. “I heard it three times yesterday … before breakfast.”
Sanford got on the first plane back to South Carolina upon hearing of the fire, sources tell FITS, and arrived on the scene in Myrtle Beach on Friday, April 24.
The fire broke out on the afternoon of April 22.
Of course, as cold water is poured on one conflagration, another is flaring up.
Sources tell FITS that the Columbia bureau of the Associated Press still has considerable material (i.e. tapes) remaining from its explosive two-day interview with Sanford last week that it has yet to release.
Reports vary as to how damaging this unreleased material will be to the governor, although if this round proves even half as damaging as the first round of revelations, Sanford could be in real trouble.
“Politically, he’s on life support,” one political observer noted. “A touch of pneumonia would send him over the edge.”
So why is the AP waiting to release the information?
Our sources say they are in the process of investigating several claims that the governor made during this disastrous interview.
Stay tuned …

It would be best for SC and the Republicans if this came out fast and gave people time to forget before the elections

Impeach Sanford rally being organized on Facebook
A Facebook group “Impeach Mark Sanford,” created by a Democratic Party activist, is organizing a rally at the Statehouse Thursday evening.
The group has 5,857 members and 41 have signed up to attend the rally at 5:30 p.m. on the North side of the Statehouse.
The group’s administrator is Marilyn Hemingway, who fell short of being elected as the first vice chairwoman of the state Democratic Party in an April election.
According to the Facebook page, the group for four months has pushed for Sanford to be impeached and now wants to see him resign on the basis that he was not available to his staff or other elected officials while in Argentina last month with his mistress.

“The Governor’s first trip to Argentina for an alleged trade mission was to a country the US Government, under the leadership of Republican President George Bush, had decided would not be the objective of any further trade initiatives because Argentina had defaulted on its US Loans.”
“Our Trade trips to Latin America largely consist of lending them money to buy our goods. Since no more loans were likely to be extended, Argentina wasn’t likely to be buying anything from South Carolina.”
“A quick check with the Republican controlled US Commerce Dpt. would have told the Governor that.”
“It’s pretty obvious the motivation for his trip to Argentina was pleasure, not business. He only agreed to pay the state back after he was caught at it.”

If Sanfraud (and his wife) cared one whit about the state of SC he would resign and ride off into the sunset. But then they both only care about themselves.

For me, I am glad the AP has waited patiently, as the State GOP acted as expected, as we all expected. Now, if the “rest of the story” is released to the public, along with all these rumors I find on this site, and here in conversations around Columbia concerning local “girlfriends” and a Governor with apparant psychological issues, maybe then someone will do something. If nothing more, get this guy to resign and move on somewhere. Let’s be completely honest. We all know the Governor is not the only elected offical in the Statehouse to be consumed in some illicit affair. I am sure this will all come out, as we once more try to hang the dirty laundry out to dry. But, I beleive one politician at a time. Let’s get Sanford out first. Then, deal with the others if we must. Surely, the State GOP can’t take the same position twice if truly more comes out? Does anyone know?

If they’re holding back it’s probably because he made claims with affect others besides himself… it’s doubtful it veered away from the controversy… so maybe something about jenny, the person who leaked the emails, the guy who tipped that he was missing, maybe someone knew where he was, maybe one of the politicos at C Street told him to dump Jenny…
I doubt it’s something that would hurt him…

For the love of God, please get the info out and get it over with. This is like death by a thousand cuts – not for Sanford, but for US! He’s an idiot, she’s an enabler, and we’re all being taken advantage of.

Does anyone really believe that Sanfraud has been meeting with his soul mate for only one year?
Try eight years on for size.
Sir, when did you meet your soul mate? uh uh uh …eight years ago …uh uh uh …wait, let me finish….
Sir, when did you discover that she was your soul mate? uh uh uh …about …eight years ago …uh uh uh …wait, let me finish….wait wait wait ….uh uh uh …I never crossed the line …uh uh uh …I never crossed the ultimate line …uh uh uh …wait let me finish…
uh uh uh …I …I …think I …better stop talking now.

I’ll be heading to Columbia tomorrow. SC children and youth deserve much better than a derelict, lying and stealing brand of leadership and the adults have to demand it. Every parent and teacher should voice how completely unacceptable it is for Gov. Sanford to remain. If not, SC will lose its greatest hope for just, good government and we descend from there. If we accept Gov. Sanford as our leader, we the people have failed and it is then a horrible reflection on us.

Release the info. Governor, you need to resign, you lied and you are an embarassment to the citizens of S.C. I wonder what else you have been involved in? Did you not sow your wild seeds in college? What gave you the idea to behave in such a manner? Could it have been Bill Clinton, who was also caught? My, how hard the mighty fall.

Im just waiting to see if dominoes do begin to fall. Sanford may not be the smartest cookie in the tin, but he has been paying enough smart people for long enough that at some point, his camp will start firing back.
It wont belong before packets of pictures, e mails and other incriminating evidence begins to show up on certain political figures in SC. Who are some of the scardest ones?
Id start with those who have for some strange reason refused to condemn him or criticize his actions. Some of them have staked out a very rigid dogma of morality and public service..so their silence is somewhat interesting.

SANFORD SCANDAL PLAGUES STATE’S WEB PORTAL
The Lovenator Sanfraud’s Internet Traffic overwhelms Official State Web portal
A surge of hits overran the state Web portal during the long Fourth of July weekend, slowing, stalling and at times crashing the server…
On Friday alone, when state offices were closed for the holiday, the number of hits on the site more than doubled the previous highest day’s use. …a 400-500 percent increase in traffic on the governor’s Web site. …computers “timed out,” or lost access to the site… resulting in no access to the State’s web portal or in some cases a 40 minutes or more wait..
“That had a significant impact on all our systems,” Moore said, because all state sites run through a single system.
“Yep, Gov. Mark Sanford was getting a lot of attention in the wake of revealing his affair with an Argentine woman.”

Doesn’t one think that Bombing an aspirin factory to Get Monica Lewinsky off the News cycle more of an impeachable offense then his affair. This whole thing that, “Its not about the sex, its because you didn’t tell me where you were” rings so much all those who claimed that Clinton had personal affair and its none of our business. Lewinski was a White House aide and it is a violation of every standard to have encounters of that kind. Think Clinton wasn’t missing in Action? How many events did he carry out to cover up his behavior by bombing Iraq and Missile strikes. So one should look deep within ones self and ask… “is this because Sanford is oppositional to my political leanings” or “do I hold all politicians to the same standard”.
Folks are touting the Thousands in a facebook group. In Practice it is much easier to check a box then to show up at the State House. I guess less then 300-400 max. I will be there to canvass the protesters to see if this is not just a democrat led smear by those who protected their favorite son in President Clinton

To me its a clear case of desertion. He left the promises to his wife and to his constituents far behind in search of self interests of a sexual nature. Lets make no bones about it,this wasnt about finding his soul mate,it was about sex, pure and raw lust. His soul is weak and lost in the confusion of desire. He wouldnt know his soul mate if he was sleeping next to her in his wedding bed, hint, hint. He has made himself out to be this lost love pilgrim who is nothing more than a victim of cupid when in reality his a man overcome with sexual problems. Its always amazing that a man saying things like this always has a soulmate who is young and beautiful. What if his soulmate was a 70 year old grandmother? Please dont insult my intelligence because I recognize a self indulgent promise breaker when I see one. I was just like him once but my mistress was alcohol. I nade it out with the help of my soulmate….my wife of 23 years and thats what he should do. What ever happened to loving someone enough to tell them the truth and making them accountable? Mark if your out there forget all else and return to your vows,if you follow the path of righteousness your hear will follow.

Gotta Go Now…..a song I loved way back when. Somehow it comes to mind these days. Would like to see Mark and Jenny sing it, now. I am so sick of them. Only those who can profit from their money or power are hanging on. the regular folks want him/her gone.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford used a team of state employees and U.S. Embassy officials to set up trade-related meetings for him in Buenos Aires in June 2008, but he repeatedly emphasized his desire to keep a “light” and “low-key” schedule in his three days there, new records show.

Sanford and staff cell phone records made public
Monday, July 13, 2009
The Post and Courier obtained e-mails and phone records Monday evening for Governor Mark Sanford and his staff that detail behind-the-scenes efforts to find the governor when he disappeared for several days in June.
The records show that Scott English, the governor’s chief of staff, tried to reach Sanford at least 10 times in mid-June when the governor traveled to Argentina to see his mistress; Sanford told his staff he was hiking the Appalachian Trail.
