Oh Henry, Just Announce Already

mcmaster-announce

Henry McMaster’s ridiculous “kabuki dance” with entering the 2010 Governor’s race continued yesterday as the second-term S.C. Attorney General managed to cough up the ball on something as simple as transferring money from one campaign account to another.

Seriously, people … we’ve been telling you for months that this guy is dumber than a box of rocks, but we had no idea he’d prove it so conclusively before he had even officially entered the race.

Anyway, South Carolina’s Panderer-in-Chief sent a letter to his financial supporters in late June asking them for permission to transfer their contributions to his Attorney General account into the account of an as-yet-unannounced gubernatorial campaign.

“As you are aware, in the very near future, I am planning to officially announce my candidacy for Governor,” McMaster wrote.

Duh.

In other news, the sun is planning to officially rise tomorrow morning.

Technically, McMaster’s letter did not violate state campaign law – despite statements to the contrary by Cathy Hazelwood, lead counsel for the S.C. State Ethics Commission. As usual, the State Ethics Commission (which doesn’t enforce our campaign laws anyway) appears incapable of distinguishing it’s ass from it’s elbow on this one.

Still, McMaster’s “failure to launch” is getting comical.

Everybody knows he’s running, so why do the B-grade flunkies running his “campaign” keep danching around the obvious? After all, his advisors have already admitted that the money from a recent John McCain fundraiser is going to his gubernatorial campaign, and McMaster himself has repeatedly confirmed his intention to run.

Why the hold-up?

Source tell FITS that McMaster was planning to “officially” announce earlier this year, but that negative publicity from his Craigslist debacle forced a postponement of his plans.

Which begs the question, how long will botching this “transfer letter” end up delaying McMaster’s announcement?

And more importantly, could additional pooch-screws cause him to delay his announcement indefinitely?

What a fortunate state we are. Bauer, Barrett and McMaster. Who could ask for more?

All of these gimmicks!

I guess the next PR stunt he will pull is show up at the legislature with a pig!….oh, wait…nevermind.

Oh, Henry! I bet his next gimmick will be to send out 250k candy bars around the state. Oh wait a minute. That is Henry Brown’s gimmick. Maybe henry McMaster will pass out business cards with links to craigslist.
