Counting Bailouts … One, Two, Three?
Proving once again that Twitter and politicians don’t mix, U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett is taking fire for a “tweet” in which he claims to have opposed “the first stimulus.”
“I voted against the first stimulus (because) there are better ways to help our economy,” Barrett said, presumably responding to speculation that the administration of President Barack Obama is on the verge of asking Congress for another stimulus package.
Here’s Barrett’s tweet:
Hmmm … the Congressman is cutting it pretty close if you ask us.
After all, Barrett flip-flopped on the first government bailout, initially opposing the proposal backed by former President George W. Bush and Congressional Democrats before reversing his position and supporting a “sweetened” version of the bailout.
That’s something South Carolinians clearly haven’t forgotten …
