sanford-cry

Heading into the Fourth of July holiday, a whopping 69% percent of South Carolinians said they thought that S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford should resign his office, up from 60% in a poll taken just a week earlier.

Only 28% of respondents to the Survey USA poll – conducted on July 2 – said they thought Sanford should stick around, compared to 34% in the June 24 poll.

The scandal has also hit Sanford’s once sky-high job approval numbers. According to a separate Survey USA today poll conducted on July 3, Sanford’s job approval rating now sits at just 32%, with 62% disapproving of his performance as governor.

Of course, Sanford’s would-be replacement isn’t faring particularly well, either.

S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer has a measly 49% job approval percentage, with 38% disapproving. Also, only one in five South Carolinians say that Bauer is “completely prepared” to take over as governor.

well, if Andre isn’t completely prepared, then we should not have elected him “twice”. What a bunch of morons.

FMN is slacking on the J-O-B! I mean come on. We know SanFRAUD isn’t going anywhere. SPT isn’t giving up the MOST powerful position in the state. So, stop with all the damn updates and give us what we really want… FMN! I want to see this thing play out. Who will play Maria?

Seven GOP senators, including Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler, issued a letter last Tuesday asking Sanford to step down, according to CNN.

“The bottom line is that the Governor’s private matters should remain private, but his deception and negligence make it impossible for us to trust him, and for him to govern in the future,” they wrote.

SurveyUSA, huh? They don’t still have Charlie Condon winning the U.S. Senate race, do they?

It’s a sad commentary on SC residents when a man’s personal immorality makes them more likely to disapprove of his job performance. It just goes to show you that you have to be a sinless saint to impress Republicans, or at least be able to hide your transgressions really, really well.

Bauer has low numbers and no one has been paying attnetion to him. Imagine how low they will go if he is elevated, and people start to closely watch him…

How did we get here?
Our leaders led us right here.

This isn’t about morality – it’s about leaving his job to skip the country for 4 days (planned on longer) and only paying back the $ when he got caught

Please stop electing officials to “join the bandwagoon” and start thinking for youreslf. Why would you elect someone (twice) that you did not feel could serve as governor in the absence of the governor?

Governor Mark Sanford will be in Charleston Monday morning for a briefing on port security.

The meeting – which includes visits by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Senator Lindsey Graham – is closed to the public.

Sanford won’t attend a media availability after the 11;30am scheduled meeting concerning Project Seahawk.

Project Seahawk is a federally funded security task force aimed at protecting the Port against acts of terrorism.

we already know that jenny gave the final word on this issue long ago: he’s staying on the job. 7 out of 10 south carolinians, you’ve been overridden. In SC, the man is more important than the institution.

Cubby the twice divorced in 4 years marriage expert. He must be an expert on marriage. He has been married more times than the Pope.

Lindsey has been involved in running up more federal debt than at any other time in our nation’s history. He should resign. His activities are much more damaging to the taxpayers than anything Sanford has done.

help me out. this guy sanford calls his spiritual adviser, cubby culbertson, how many times has he been married? and he was counseling the gov on what?

By CNSYD on July 6th, 2009 at 4:27 pm

Elmo, as much as you may hate what Graham has done, it was not illegal. Sanford using state funds for his personal use, no matter how small, is illegal.

COLUMBIA – A “Resign or Impeach” Citizen’s rally will be sponsored by the “Impeach Mark Sanford” Facebook group (5:30pm EST Thursday, July 9, 2009 on the North grounds of the South Carolina State House). With a membership of more than 5, 600 members, the non-partisan “Impeach Mark Sanford” group has been actively calling for Sanford’s impeachment for more than 4 months and is now focusing on obtaining his resignation in light of his admission that he was not available to his staff and other elected officials to carry out his official responsibilities as Governor of South Carolina.
