As we first reported earlier this week, the nonprofit charity at the center of the ongoing S.C. Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office scandal has had its bank accounts frozen.
Mercy Ministries, the nonprofit run by disgraced former Solicitor Jay Hodge, received the news in a letter from Wachovia last week. A copy of this letter has been obtained by FITS.
We received initial reports of this development yesterday, but were unable to confirm the information with the bank.
Wachovia’s regional Vice President and philanthropic consultant, Pam Nothstein, wrote to Hodge on June 26 that Mercy Ministries had failed to respond to repeated inquires from the bank requesting details about its operation and administration.
Accordingly, Nothstein said the bank was unable to confirm that Mercy Ministries was operating according to the mandate of its charter, which prompted its decision to “temporarily suspend the income distributions” to the organization from a trust that helps fund its operations.
Hodge and Mercy Ministries are both at the center of a federal investigation into the alleged misappropriation of public funds, with some of the scandals more lurid details becoming fodder for gossip.

Mr. Hodge has been known to “stick” people in positions or create a position, regardless of qualifications. This may be good for the person needing a job, BUT horrible for everyone else that has to deal with them. “Mr.” Michael ran for mayor several years ago. Someone must be living in the past or using the sign to prop up tomatoes.

Why can’t the people, locally and statewide, running our government do the right thing and get it together? They go to college to learn how to do their jobs properly. Do they not care? Are they just in it for a good time? MM was supposed to be helping people, this was a charity. Why would they let this type of corruption creep in? Why no response from the rest of the board? Do they feel they’re above having to account for their actions? These people sit in churches every Sunday. They’ve studied about Christ enough to know what they are supposed to be doing. I believe some were in it for the sole purpose of doing their job and doing it right, but otherwise how things are run in this state is sickening. Washington isn’t much better. Will Hodge’s activities affect current solicitor? Why was Hodge given a position as asst. solicitor? What about the forced campaigning? These people really do seem to believe that they do not have to answer to anyone. If MM is 20 years old, why so much secrecy around the organization? I would love to hear from the board concerning this. If you all are waiting for this to be swept under a rug or forgotten about, it’s not gonna happen. I’ll remember you all at the next election, and that goes for current solicitor as well. Maybe D.C. needs to come in here and investigate the entire workings of the government of S.C., all counties included. Enough is enough.

Between Ruby and Cheraw. Closer to Ruby. I goes up to Cheraw,sometimes and Chesterfield, sometimes to git hog food and supplies. Also to catch up on the local chatter, cause it is nice to be kept up to date on the isshoes. I has been in Bojangle’s with the coffee club.

I am shore sorry that we did not get to talk. I looks to see ifen anyone would recognize me. Big Buck did not git scared, I think that he only has about 1/2 an ear working. Big Bubba, my dad did took me to see Slim Mims at the fairgrounds in Columbia. I am from three M Mimms’ with no country recording contracts. Elliott was the community where I grew up and morning show personality J. T. Nesbitt had a house on the curve. Don’t know if the reception could make it up here or not, but he was a classic. Hope Big Buck is all right. We watched the fireworks from Barbara’s office door, lot’s of big bangs going on downtown. Kudo’s to the town officials, that was really nice. Oh by the way, you can ride in the front seat with me all the way to the capitol city.

L.Thomas, that’s pretty powerfull. One thing you forgot to mention, I hope all these people have deep pockets because they will be liable for their actions. One of the hazards of being a board member with all the prestige, I guess Mr. Hodge forgot to mention that when he recruited them. I hope that the church has some kind of insurance policy for Charles because I figure she doesn’t have the access to money that Hodge and Anderson have. As far as Overcash, he’s just a punk hangin’ with Hodge. He’ll be gone the minute the FBI take him away.

Not to worry, we’ve been busy with attorney’s and the FBI. I hope Big Bubba is doing okay myself. I can’t go into detail but I promise there are some fireworks to come, just sorry they weren’t here for the 4th. What’s been troubling me lately is the emotion of feeling sorry for the ex-solicitor but when I remeber all the things he has allowed to happen to people in this community, as well as others, that sympathy goes away quickly. What I would like for the people in our community to remember at the end of this is the people who supported and stood by Hodge and the others who will be prosecuted. Don’t let them off the hook. Here’s a chance to straighten this mess out, don’t allow this town and community to suffer anymore.

Thanks John, it’s good to hear from you. Glad to know the investigation is going well. There’s no sympathy on my part for Hodge or any others, except for what even the most horrific people throughout history is allowed. No one knows why people really do bad things, except for perhaps bad things being done to them or that power corrupts. My opinion on Hodge changed last year. I’m sure he’s helped some people but probably for the reason that it provided a good cover for him. Even Hitler needed allies. Yall are in my thoughts and prayers and I will at least keep this issue alive on this site and on a personal level.

I know this doesn’t have anything to do with this post but I did want to provide this information to all concerned. I got info from the courthouse last week which shows the second transaction that our mayor performed on the house from the little lady in the nursing home. This property is one that Myrteen Lee, mayor Hunter and Hodge pulled a fast one. Our mayor just sold the house for a $25,000 gain according to courthouse records. Now I no he says that’s the business he’s in but I heard this is the first property transaction he has done. I guess since he said they were doing her a favor, he’ll be forwarding the profits to her family member that received the money for the original purchase. If you believe that, I’m sure mayor Hunter has some wonderful ocean front property he can show you. I just wonder what he’ll do for all his property leads once Hodge and Lee leave town. I see she has for sale signs at her business and home. I wonder if she’s doing that just to gain some sympathy from the community or did she realize that her business can’t stand another questionable transaction being reported to the sc real estate commission.
No matter what happens or what gets proven, these three know the truth of what happened and they’ll have to answer to someone other than us.

Knowledge of Lee and her business transactions are common and based on fact. Not cleaning up her property on Front St. put a bee in everyone’s bonnet. Hunter was exposed when he ran for office with the work license incident. In the past I haven’t voted locally much, but I will next time, while encouraging friends to know the candidates background as much as possible and to vote themselves.

Well now, Big Bubba seeds that he has been missed. I has been on a cruise. I reckon that I told everyone that I has running water. It runs behind my trailer in the creek. So Big Buck and I had an idea. Whats ifen we goes to Walmart buys us a blow up raft, git in that creek and seeds where it goes to. Well, we ended up on the Peedee river after about three hours and we cruised on down to a place called Wockymaw. Big Buck had a great time and so did I. We took some pig skins,watermelon, bacon, eggs and light bread. also we took a couple of big bottle of Root Beer and put all that stuff in a brand new stirefoam cooler. I hads to buy some supplies along the way. Did ya’ll know how bad the moskeeters are? I thought that they were going to drain all my blood out. What has happened in the county? I know what has not happened, NO ARREST, nobodys rear is in jail. Mr. Mimms, thank for keeping us informed but isen the FBI really going to drag off some of these discussed scoundrel? I shore hopes so. I still am planning a pig pickin. Oh, Big Buck lost another toof when he bit down on a pig skin. He down to four teef. Read your post regarding Mr. Michael, it would certainly appear that he is out for himself, on the contrary, I know him well and he is deeply embedded with his own. I can’t count the number of times he has come to the aid of his family and friends. I’m not loving on Mr. Michael, but I do cross his path frequently and I think he is misunderstood, especially among the people who post on this website. In the end, a lot of things will come to the surface and a greater appreciation for he and others will be well deserved. You form you own opinion, but mine is based on fact. Farewell.

Alright, what’s the deal with the fixation on Michaels and his reputation popping up suddenly?
Could it be that a lot is riding on his testimony?
Someone with a personal axe to grind?
A diversionary tactic?
Someone trying to prod an investigation into his past, with regard to his job at sol. office?
Something else? Unsavory business practices?
Focus on someone else, I say, but I know very little, if anything, about Michaels. There are bigger fish to fry, and my concern is that 2 fish, 1 bigger than the other, will wiggle their way out of the casting net and swim free. They are on the same level with Hodge, have caused a lot of people pain, and need to, at least, be relieved of their job duties. And they are very slippery and smooth, so it will take a lot to catch them.

To answer the question about the fixation on Mr. Michael’s…just another attempt by those who are really feeling the heat to draw the attention from themselves. Believe me I know I run with that crowd and you should hear some of their plans for the “good guys”. And why the finger point at Mr. Michael anyway, he holds no power. One thing you can count on is somebody will pay the price for stepping on the toes of Hodge, Vick, Finch, Hunter, police and others…because it is the hot topic around the table at white house on the dirt road.

Apparently the above who attacked Mr. Michael’s reputation doesn’t mind hitting below the belt. You DO NOT bring kids into this deal. I do know this much, Mr. Michael is good to his kids, all of them. The Michaels are a close-knit family and essentially good people. But like I stated, don’t know him personally.
NOW, I have already ended up on a bridge overlooking the Pee Dee one time, with no recollection of how I got there. I’ve already been told by those who would know what is in store for me by some on Cheraw Police Dept. if they get the chance and by he who wears the black robe.
Let me remind anyone who needs to know that this is the year 2009 and if anyone opposing those who brought the criminals into the light disappears or has an accident, it will surely be investigated. Forensics have greatly improved over the years. I will take myself all the way to D.C. or beyond if I feel it is necessary. No more playing around, ladies and gents. None of you know Mr. Michael’s the way certain staffers do at the solicitor’s office. This man has no college education, and he is drawing a mighty hefty salary about 50,000 a year I believe. I also heard over the weekend at church, that he just got a new company car. He was ridding mighty high on when Mr. Hodge was giving out kickbacks to his inner circle. Was Mr. Michael in the inner circle or not? Payback isn’t the only bitch, the truth is as well. His children have no part in these discussions. But as I stated as before, the truth hurts. What upsets me more than anything, is the fact that he doesn’t perform the duties necessary for his salary. He seems to be just as a Male version of Ms. Finch.

No one is talking about the children. Oscar said that Kenny stood by his family and took care of them. I just wanted to let him know that was not true. No his children should not be talked about I was just making a point. Kenny should be and can be talked about because he is as quilty as the rest of them. Grab is right the truth will come out and the chips will fall out all over the place. Everyone has a right to freedom of speech and everyone has his or her opinion. But there is one truth and that is Kenny wouldnt know the truth if it bit him in the butt.

I shouldn’t even respond to the above, but look at 2 previous posts that states “he doesn’t look out for his family” and “how many kids he has and how many he claims”. Now that’s hitting way too far below the belt, anyone would be upset by those statements, including spouse and kids.
I don’t know the man personally, but his family does not deserve to be hit with this kind of smear.

No attack from me on anyones family. Apparently, you are reading just what you want to read. Once again if anyone, large or small, little man or big man, is involved he needs the same treatment. Some people can talk out of both sides of their head and about people whom have trusted them.

Will you please reread my post. I never mentioned one thing about anyone’s family or children. These blogs, for the most part, are discussing the alleged scandel in the solicitor’s office(although heaven knows that some do ramble on about nothing). This should include everyone, including the above name, in the ivestigation. If he or anyone else is innocent then WONDERFUL. THEY SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE. But if he or anyone else has their hand in this alleged scandel, they should reap the same judgement. There are several ways to be involved, one is active participation in the scandel, the other which may worse, involves covering ones rear end while ratting out someone else. Especially, if the one in focus provided a livelihood for the rat. So there you go, the truth should not fray anyone.

It seems that the spin doctoring has taken a turn. I wonder how some of you would feel if you knew the truth about those you claim to support. Do you really think a person can be witness to the activities of an alleged illegally operated solicitor’s office for years, knowing full well what goes on there good and bad, and all of a sudden simply MUST take a stand for “justice”? Come on. Be realistic. Don’t be led around by the nose by anyone who has an inflated, possibly delusional perception of themselves as purveyor of justice. What was once the topic of my working lunch discussions, has now become something of an embarrasment. I sincerely hope all parties involved truly are working with the authorities, and I hope the authorities are keen enough to see that very often the hand that points the finger, could well be dirtiest one of all. All of this is nothing but more, although concentrated, political rhetoric. Just another ploy to manipulate public perception for political gain. I appreciate the point you were making in your previous post “grabaholdoflife”, the truth should not fray anyone, and no one reading these posts is getting the whole story. Glad I am not the only one who is skeptical enough to ask questions.

At this point, noone knows who is posting what. Both Big Bubba and myself have had posts under our name we did not write. The above statements about Michael’s kids were made (look above) and that’s just hitting too far below the belt. Don’t know him personally, but his family does stick together and are essentially good people, as far as I know. I, nor anyone on this planet, is omniscient.
Politics is dirty business and anyone involved is going to get covered in some dirt. I have had to answer for what I have done wrong, and more, and anyone involved will have to do the same thing. The spin doctors have spun such a tangled web that at this point only insiders know most of the truth. If anyone posting on this site knows anything, let them put their butts on the line and either post it or tell it, knowing the risks involved, and deal with it. Mamabear, if you know anything, I’d love to hear it. Either post if or tell someone, and God bless you if you already have.
Indeed, noone knows the entire story. For years, all I heard was good things about Hodge. From my perspective, Mercy Mins. was operating just fine. One aspect too many people are not considering is that none of us know everything and everyone involved in this is gonna have some dirt on their hands. Like I stated, I was on the wrong side of the fence 8 years ago and that is how I know what I do. Has Hodge or Bullard done anything to me? No. Has Bullard assisted me in an abusive situation and why SOME officers responded as they did to the situation? Yes. I cannot say anything about Bullard except that and the fact that she does have a good heart and backbone enough to step up and say what’s going on while probably having her life threatened and much more. Is Chesterfield Sheriff’s Dept. and Drug Court now operating as they should, from what I have seen and know? Yes. Cheraw Police Dept.? Some are. Some always have. Some should lose their jobs and be in jail.
It is indeed true that those in such positions are held to a higher standard because their positions and choices AFFECT THE WELFARE OF SO MANY.
Furthermore, noone is going to agree on everything and what do officials do when faced with the task of seeing someone, for example, smoking marijuana, but otherwise is a good citizen and person? Arrest them and send our jails and prisons further beyond capacity and cost the taxpayers more $? Take away their freedom for something that California is getting ready to legalize, that our founding father’s and current president used, and is, in truth, less dangerous than alchohol? It has been used medicinally, like alchohol, and unless it is being sold or given to kids, should it not be treated like alchohol, with the same limitations, and controlled as such? Do they take their kids away when the person is a good parent and place them in a pedophile-infested foster care system or DSS system? If they arrested everyone for everything, we would all be sitting in jail. A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTY NEED GET THEIR NOSES OUT OF THE AIR, QUIT JUDGING AND GOSSIPING, HELP SOME PEOPLE OUT, LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT EMPATHY, SYMPATHY, AND FORGIVENESS, AND QUIT USING THE NAME OF JESUS TO DEFEND AND WIGGLE OUT OF FACING WHAT THEY HAVE DONE WRONG THEMSELVES.
In addition, what do they do when they are told to overlook the rich and high-standing, who could ruin their careers, family and reputations, when they catch them doing wrong? Yes, the correct answer is to treat them like everyone else, but is everyone else going to come to their aid when the rich and high-standing threaten them? I think not. And here’s really putting my rear end on the line: If an official is doing a minor thing wrong, but is otherwise doing a great job and is a wonderful person, do we get rid of that official and put someone else in who we know, because noone is perfect, is going to do some wrong, and risk having someone worse? Remember Clinton and Kennedy? The hypocricy of those who would say yes and point fingers is well and alive. I do have to say that I do not care if Hodge is gay or not. That is between him and God. If it doesn’t involve kids, animals, or rape, then whatever. NOW, sex at a rest stop where people stop with their kids all the time is just wrong. I know that by stating the above that I will be accused of being gay and smoking weed and promoting corruption, but I’m not, it’s my opinion, it’s how the real world work’s, and God has not come back to earth yet to save us from all of this and there are very few who are willing to live their lives like Mother Teresa or Mahatma Ghandi or to sacrifice themselves like martyrs as Jesus Christ and many others did. Far too often have I seen the gay issue, pot issue, corruption issue, etc. pop up in churches, while at the same time the same people are doing the same things and then outright lying when questioned about it to save both face and their asses. Toleration, like it or not, is a big key to a good society. VERY FEW PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTY ARE ADDRESSING CHILD WELFARE, ANIMAL WELFARE, ENVIRONMENTAL WELFARE, THE FACT THAT METH, CRACK, LSD (THE WORST IN MY OPINION, LOOK IT UP) AND OTHER DRUGS ARE NOT BEING CLEANED UP LIKE THEY SHOULD, RACISM, POLITICAL CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION IN THE CHURCHES, EDUCATION, AND SO FORTH. SOME ARE, HOWEVER, AND I THANK THEM FOR IT.
Now once again, from the top, I am questioning everyone. I am also keeping myself in check. I hope the FBI is doing their job properly because, in reality, they are only human, part of the system, and will have to roll around in the pig sty that is politics and can only work with solid information instead of what whomever is saying.
I have no hate in my heart nor am I out to get anyone nailed to the wall. Graves, Hodge, Thomas and everyone else mentioned have indeed done some good in their lives and in this community. I just want to see the dirty secrets come to light because they are in positions that affect so many people’s lives and for them to do their jobs properly. If they don’t do their jobs properly, many suffer. If people keep their jobs and remain in their respective positions, then so be it. That includes Mr. Graves, police officers, and anyone else. Just get the system of checks and balances working properly, understand that mistakes will occur, just correct them properly, and don’t let corruption and greed on this scale occur again. The level of corruption around here is as much the citizens’ fault, and mine, for not stepping foward when we saw what was going on.
As far as Bullard or Michael knowing this or that, I’m sure for awhile, at least, they honestly did not know everything. Maybe they stepped forward and reported things and we don’t know. In this type of situation, noone can tell everything and have to keep some of it quiet or the investigation is both pointless and fruitless.
I, for one, will answer for any wrongdoing I have done. Everyone else will too. Here’s praying that this mess is straigtened out, we all learn something from it, and it won’t be a case of “new boss same as the old boss.”
I hope that answers everyone’s questions and doubts about anything I have posted. Let justice be served and all the spin-doctoring and corruption on such a level as this come to a halt. I AM PRAYING FOR MYSELF AND EVERYONE INVOLVED. MAY WE DO WHAT’S RIGHT AND BE FORGIVEN, LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES, AND MOVE ON IN MORE BLESSED AND WISE MANNER. May this county be cleaned top to bottom, as the entire nation needs to be, and God forbid anything like this happens again.

I think it’s really ironic that so many people on these posts seem to have such high morals, especially you mamabear. You are correct on one thing though, the whole truth will never be seen on these posts. The whole truth may never come to light, but the major players no what they have done. I guess I really don’t blame them and their supporters for trying to divert attention from themselves in the public eye, what other defense do they have than to try some pathetic smear. Paperwork does not lie and affidavit’s from parties involved bring credence. Why did some speak up now after all they knew? Quite simple actually, enough was enough and you make a choice to protect yourself. I can only speak for Barbara and Mercy Ministries. Sooner or later federal and state audits would identify the misappropriations and Hodge already had his escape plan. Every-one’s read it in the local papers, I didn’t pay much attention to the ministry while I was involved being the solicitor of four counties. I trusted Barbara implicitly. What he should have said was I never figured she would turn me in. Another thing that seems strange to me is how Hodge claims to be “in the dark” on so many of the goings on with both the solicitor’s office and mercy ministries. Anyone that knows Jay Hodge knows that his vanity wouldn’t let him not be involved. For someone that is supposed to be so smart, he sure makes some dumb statements. I bet he would faint if he knew what the final straw with her was. I always heard that they slaughter hogs but let little pigs live.

Gonna respond to it all, if possible, so noone has any questions about where I stand.
Noone will ever know everything about this great ball of wax.
However, if anyone, including Mamabear, knows anything, post your real name and say it, like I and others have done.
If Hodge believes anyone is buying the line that he was in the dark about anything, he is using the same mentality that made him go to the rest stop in the first place. Or did that happen? So much can be covered up when there is are no reports made and witnesses are hushed. Making inaccurate reports can accomplish a helluva lot as well.
As far as morals, mine tend to be pretty high. You don’t harm kids, steal, lie, murder, rip people off, let greed get the best of you, and help out where you can. Thanks to my mistakes, some of my family’s doings, and trying to get help in this corrupt area of the country, my reputation is shot. So be it because I don’t plan to be here any longer than I must. It was really nice at 18 years of age when I left and attended college where people did not look at me as a piece of white trash from a white trash background and treated me decently, and I intend to be in that position again.
My support to those who have ratted out the fiends, but mark my word: This is much bigger than even the FBI and it will take an act of God to break this political machine. I’m sure yall already know that. Sorry as well if you’re stressed beyond belief and feeling the impact of ratting out these folks, but it’s exactly how I felt all the times 8 years ago that I took paperwork in hand and reported to SLED and the FBI.
There is such a thing called Karma and it comes to everyone. To those who know who you are, when it hits you in the face, don’t wonder why. Just bask in the glory that is your present life while you can.

If you actually read my posts, I speak very little about Christianity, and if I do, it is in response to what someone else has said. I will not argue the religion aspect, only that what I have stated about the police or anyone else is true, and I have admitted my own mistakes as well. You’re a little late in nipping anything in the bud, Mrs. Smith, and nice shot at my failed marriage. Not to worry, though, I’m sure the God you pray to every Sunday in church will forgive you every time you make such a statement about someone.

If my name is not stated on these post, than it wasn’t me that posted it. It was not a shot against your marriage, it was a factual statment. Attitude has nothing to do with the conversation that has been displayed on these posts. I am also not late in nipping anything in the bud. You are a bitter person, becuase you feel you and/or your family was mistreated. You also stated that you were no longer going to comment on this page. Now, who is the one not keeping their word. To clarify your statement regarding me as slandering anyone. That is completely and utterbly false. Any defamation of character, libel, or derogatory comments would be considered slander, that is not what I did. You went to college you should know that. As a professional with a M.S.W. I would consider your comments showing a lack of character and immaturity. I don not agree with your anger against our community. What our community needs is a positive and uplifting attitude. With all of the negativity surrounding our county and other areas in near contact; we must be positive and encourage others to do the same. You do not know who I am obvousily. I moved here a couple of years ago, I reside in Dillon and try be a positive influence in my community. We are making progress, because of people wanting to create positive change. I’m not going to respond to whomever is posting as me. My failed marriage is a fact. It is also a fact that SOME in this county in the political arena, as well as Cheraw Police Dept., are corrupt and need to be fired, at the very least. If they had done their jobs properly, things would not have spun so out of control. There are also wonderful people in this community, and I have stated this.
Apparently, since I don’t know you and you don’t know me, you have talked with someone else who knows certain details about my life. It doesn’t surprise me that you, or anyone, have done such.
However, you don’t have the integrity to learn the entire truth. I am quite bitter about what has happened concerning my family, as anyone would be. That is only the tip of the iceberg. Good observation, however, from someone with an M.S.W.
Furthermore,your comments are disturbing, considering you have a M.S.W. Perhaps attitudes such as this is the reason for the great improvements we’ve seen in this county, and surrounding ones, concerning the welfare of those in need of such services. That’s being sarcatic, not bitter.
If it is your inclination to view telling the truth as immature, so be it. I hope I never need your assistance in your respective field. If I do, I will search beyond the surrounding area. My, my how these posts have turned. First sign of blood in the water was of Hodge, Finch, Vick, Hunter, Lee, etc. now that everyone has said their piece on them, they are turning on their own…verbal cannibalism? Who knows, but it appears that a select few have a lot of free time on their hands. Wonder if they’re at work, using business or government computers for their internet outbursts? Guess, well just have to wait and see …since the FBI are spending so much time on tracking our IP addresses. according to our own resident “Al Gore” aka Cheraw mayor. Hey guys, don’t you think it time to let go? How much longer will you beat this issue? Is there nothing else in your lives that you could commit your time too? First off, there is no reason for anyone to track any IP Address of people stating there beliefs, opinions, and according to Laura’s Comments: Assumptions. No wonder the unemployment rate is so low for Chesterfield County, some people need to find a career. As far as the mayor of Cheraw is concerned, he can take his annual salary of $5,500 and stick it. To Laura tt isn’t that I have discussed with someone about your personal life. You have stated in prior post, that your husband had a drug problem, that he beat you, and you both divorced. I would too, concerning the facts. My point was do not point the finger at someone else for sin, when you and all have sinned. The comments that were directed to you, were not made for a “Certain effect”. I was clearly stating a fact. I have intergrity, alot more than anyone, placing a false, screen name months before stating your real name. A great way to define that such word is simply: a firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. One a Divorcee could not adhere to the understanding. I am clearly not using a government computer as was stating above. A few things were designed a couple of years ago: cell phones, wireless internet, and of course my blackberry. In which I used for my commenting, just in case I needed to clarify it. By the way Laura, what does Jesus say about BITTERNESS in the Bible. You stated that you were bitter and had a right to. If I told every client that were receiving counseling that they had a right to be bitter, tear the lives of others emotionally, physically, spiritually. Then they would end up like half of what has been displayed on here. Mercy, Forgiveness, and Faith is what needs to be given, not taken from the lives that serve us each and every day in this state and our counties. What is expected of me and my education is something that gives back to the communities each and every day. Unlike a degree in theater/drama that does what? The career I chose benefits others and the volunteer time I put back in other organizations and my community say things well. Your choice of phrasing and words does not line up with my character, philosophy, and line of work. This is not verbal cannibalism, it is simply the fact and truth of it all. If it hurts, and cuts deep – then according to other posters, just get bitter about it.

Ms. Laura I am so glad you chose to respond. You stated in posts above that Ms. Bullard and her husband are nice people, and that she helped you with some issues a while back. Well last time I checked Ms. Bullard is Battered Womens Counselor. That kind of speaks volumes you know…. What did she do, by you some candy? No she was doing her job. Of course I am glad your not my client either. It would take someone with more patience, determination and a Saint og God to have the right to even help you. I believe you would make the therapist complete an application to assist you in any way. By, the way It is Ms. Smith, not MRS. My husband died of cancer about a year ago. So I am not married….. Artistic study has nothing to do with what I was talking about earlier. Honestly, I can have some really good therapist give you free sessions and counseling if you’d like. It seems to me that you are disturbed. I am no longer going to state your issues above, it is not enough space provided in these comments sections. Thanks again, I hope if I offended you. That you will not be bitter againest me or my line of work. Just trying to help.

I’m sorry to know that You are as educated as Ms. Laura. As another note, I was just stating facts and what was posted in earlier sections of this website. I have the ability to do many things… Analyze is in my field, and I can assure you are just as disturbed as Laura. In fact, its probably you, just using another screen name. Why can’t we just get to the point here at hand. The scandal that is destroying the counties in which our officials are representing. In my earlier posts, I was describing what the effect of one’s comments being a mile long and talking about topicxs that are irrelevant to the topic we are discussing. I am so glad that you proof read, I did not, also missed some keys,as you have done. (TOPIXCS/TOPICS) BUT WHOSE COUNTING? You need to come to our county, it does APPEAR that you have all of the answers to the issues at hand that we face. How about rolling up your sheepskin and sticking it in your back pocket to go along with your arrogant and pompous attitude. You, also, seem to have issues that goes deeper than this blog site or bloggers. Once again another round of wasted discussion, including this entry of mine, that causes division amongst the concerned citizens. Social worker analyse thyself! That is so true about Ms. Finch…… I think the money that was tied up was for Michael and Hodges real estate deals. Why don’t whoever visits the court house, ever go looking for those kind of documents. Hunter and Lee needs to be looked to furthur.

Sticking to the issue at hand: Unfortunately, this is an issue that involves officials, business owners, and unfortunately, persons in our local court system and police department.
Now it involves the attacks by some on certain people’s reputations and families. While some may have appearingly rambled, I perceive it as an attempt to explain their postings while simultaneously attempting to provide as much information as possible and to explain the mentalities and motivations of those accused. It is of utmost importance to attempt to explain such, as the accused deserve the chance to explain their actions.
That being said, for anyone interested, type J.A. Graves municipal judge Cheraw SC into their search engine. Click the 1st blue text that begins, “We have performed the procedure, etc.
The site addresses the appropriation of victims’ abuse funding, reporting of funds, etc. This is not an attempt to attack Mr. Graves personally. It is a legitimate report on his handling of funds, fines, etc. It is quite enlightening.
There should be no protest by anyone if individuals are using the solicitor’s investigation to bring foward all those involved and to address other issues that have lain dormant for far too long. All is takes it one rotten apple to deem the entire system corrupt, and indeed, this is the case in the Fourth Circuit, just as it in our State House.

I visited the site regarding Magistrate Graves and was quite surprised. It should be concerning to the citizens of Cheraw that someone who was cited for violations against almost every standard requirement set forth by the SC Magistrates Court Association would not only be allowed to keep his position but be voted in unanimously by our town council. Makes you wonder what everyone has to hide? I suggest that anyone who truly cares to gain some knowledge regarding the truth to visit that site mentioned above. Ms. Smith should take a look if she truly cares to get to the facts. Personally, I think she or he is part of Hodge’s camp trying to distract people from reporting info. I wouldn’t think that someone with a masters in social work would write, spell, or use that kind of language.

I did not want to be the Lone Ranger on this, but I do agree with your feeling related to the concept of MS. SMITH being involved with the camp. She has an inflated ego to go along with the MSW. BUT like you stated and I thought, it concerns me that she could catch a few typos that I made. But when you read her word salads she has destroyed the English language. Have you noticed how each of her post have gotten angrier? As I have stated previously, creating division will cause weakened ranks. This is what I suspect this person is doing. It is reassuring that others are looking into the information provided. The paper trail is obscure and minimal, but it’s there.
Currently researching a non-profit in Anderson and Dillon. A very sizable grant was given to an Anderson non-profit and the name of the executive director was surprising. May be a dead-end and irrelevant, but I’ll see.
This scandal doesn’t involve only Chesterfield County, that I am sure of. Financial records and legitimate reports are the only way to get the corruption out of office.

A non-profit does not have to be registered in the county of where I am working. Do you think the American Cancer Association only works where they are registered as a 501c3 non-profit. The answer is no, they work throughout the United States. I also check out your little investigation on google again regarding Graves, if you haven’t noticed he was cleared. So he wasn’t convivted for anything…. Everything was reported in a timely maatter. Learn the legal terms in find print, before making accusations against a public offial. Your just bitter against him for your family life. And why is everyone talking about my MSW, so I attended college and actually graduated. Do not undermind my intelligence, because your lack of. I researched some more information this afternoon, and Kenny Michael and Jay Hodge have real estate properties together. I guess there may be more to this than meets the eye.
Also I heard that he had an affair with another women while employeed at the office. This came from a reliable source, let’s just say she was a counselor for MM.
Not spreading rumors, just wondering if any of you have heard this information.

If you are referring to MM current employee and resident, I think you and she should be very careful pointing fingers at anyone. For the past three months The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been invistigating the scandals involving both the solicitor’s office along with the organization mercy ministries. I have found many of these comments posted by some citizens to be derogatory, slanderous, and even irrelevant to the investigation. It is not appropriate to use these posts to demean the character of my family members and close acquaintances. These articles are strictly for the purpose of informing the public, not to use false antics and allegations towards people personally. If all citizens would engage this process with cooperation, the investigation could come to a close. The information I have read above is completely false; your references and sources are not reliable. All members of my family are compassionate and have stable, loving relationships. I repect that you all will stick to the topic that is at hand.

The attacks on the Michael family and others is notably peculiar and offensive. I do not understand it myself.
Apparently, it is done by someone, or people, without any other line of defense.
As far as getting to the facts, one can only speculate at this point on a great number of issues surrounding this scandal.
Could it possibly be due to lack of paperwork or plausible evidence? I’m sure the shredding machines have been running top speed for quite some time. Evidence? What’s left after most has been swept under the rug? Police reports? Good luck finding those. Some officers in Cheraw Police Department display a seemingly unnatural avoidance of them.

Most of the time rumors are true. People are usually doing the things that are being said about them. I have heard everything that has been said here more than once. People get upset because others post them. If the people didn’t do these things then they wouldn’t be said. I hope for the people’s families that they are not true. But when people do wrong over and over they are going to get caught. People also get tired of being bullied and well they find this place as an outlet. I’m sorry that the family and loved ones of these men have to hurt because of the wrong they have done but this maybe the punishment they need to make a change. People running around, and people stealing, it’s a really bad thing. But really and truly is it not something we already know or knew.
We need to remember that their children and wifes may read these things we put on this site. They need to also know alot of people have been hurt and bullied by these people and people do use this site as an outlet for their feelings and also, secrets and things are going to come out. This is a area to read about the news but they put a comment area for people to post their feelings. I am sorry for these people’s families but its their loved ones that have caused sites like these. And yes some of us are afraid to post our names but its all because of the wrong that they have done to us and what we know that they can do.

Has anyone taken the time to read the articles again? If anyone is serious about changing the political arena in this county, try finding some documents or call those accused and ask questions. I’ll state once again that this goes as far as Columbia, at least, and it will take a great deal to break this political machine.
Remeber that one article stated that a local representative, Chief of SLED at the time, and McMaster passed on investigating this issue a few years ago when it was first reported?

Do you really think you can toy with the Michaels and others that are totally innocent from this investigation. I think it speaks highly with Mr. Zachary Michael to take a stand against these FALSE allegations towards his family and others. If you would take a look at him, you will find that he does more for this world than half of these people commenting. The strong will not retalliate, nor will people like Zachary or anyone for that matter let the crazy and stupid comments drag them down. The Michaels have a record, or at least Zachary does And it is highly impressive. So to Chesterfield County resident, let’s see who you really are? Let’s see your background and record. Not trying to spread rumors but I heard through the grapevine today that Rep. Vick has been making some interesting comments. He claims that Hodge has gone to Spratt and had him shut the investigation down. Personally, I think that is ridiculous. I think we as citizens of this county and this state deserve better. With all that has been written on these posts, if nothing happens to change our present system…we all have bigger problems than we realize. Stand up people, demand more of our elected officials and public servants.
On a different note, I also heard that Safrona Finch was out looking for a job because her “cushy” state job was done. Wonder what reason she’ll be spreading for no longer being with the solicitor’s office? I guess our new solicitor is trying to get rid of the “bad apples” from the old regime. I still think she needs to cover her back because you know that Hodge will use her as a scape goat. Be careful Safona, I understand they have “beefed up” security at the local banks.

Well, it has been confirmed…former solicitor administrator has gone over the edge. While making the rounds in Chesterfield recently she has been heard blaming everyone from her former staff members to the Pope. While she continues to protect the one that she really thought could “walk on water”, he continues to throw her *** under the bus. It must be nice to have selective memory, where you can do all and deny, or those famous words “i don’t recall”. On another front the former solicitor has been doing some investigating of his own…seems he’s interrogating everyone who comes within reach…wandering aimlessly on the streets in and out of storefronts.. “what have you heard” and whew..old boy been doing some letter writing and slick accounting too. However, the accounting now don’t seem to jive with the accounting that was being done then..if you know what i mean. Seems suddenly records and receipts that before did not exist now appear before our eyes…hey Houdini that you in there? And it gets better, rumor mill is now churning that our state representative and cohorts have pulled their weight…and boy they have some and have now squashed the investigation that has been ongoing for months. No surprise there, they been able to pull off some pretty heroic moves in the pass when it comes to protecting their own… ie: contractor licensing issue with area mayor, does that one ring any bells? But anyway, the saga continues. One thing is for sure, the sub-culture that these people live is alive and well.

Word is that former solicitor administrator made a surprise visit to her previous diggs just long enough to stir the pot. Seems she had her better half in tow and they both were ranting at anyone within view. Whatever happened to riding off gracefully into the sunset? If she shows back up maybe a good western exit from the bar is in order…kick her *** out of the building and dare her/him to come back. Many more visits like that and some involuntary medical attention will be coming their way, ie: men in white.

Wonder what the person who was defending her so much in the earlier posts on these sites has to say now. I recall them saying that Safrona would still be employed after all the dust settled. Where is this person now? I certainly have feelings for anyone who looses their job but when you have contributed to so much wrong doing, sympathy gets thrown right out the window. I heard that she was burning up the minutes talking the feds. Something about some return trip expense and silver. What is Hodge going to do to close this one down? Rumor has it that Hodge, Vick and Anderson have been meeting regularly at that fine establishment in Society Hill, Johnny’s Truck Stop. I guess Mercy Minisitries will spare no expense to treat its leaders to a good meal. No report on whether Lee, Hunter and Rev. Charles were able to make the trip. I guess they had more urgent real estate business lined up with all the listings they have right now. Funny how things go when you don’t have some incoherent little lady to work over in a nursing home. Public servants at work, what a comforting thought.

You will never guess who I saw in Rockingham this evening. Captain Keith Thomas riding in his town paid, taxes by citizens company Red Ford truck. How in the world is that official police business, he was at the local Lowes purchasing a few products.
This pisses me off. I guess he can knock up a half breed drug whore, sale and distribute drugs, and then use the town truck to make errends in NC. As an observer of this wonderful community I have noticed a real issue. This may sound cynical and sarcastic, however this is a subjective analysis. The following is a first person description of the apparent entitlement that I perceived in some of the people of power and their allies.
1: My name is_________ and I am the _______of the 4th district. Because of who I am, I am entitled to whatever I want or want to do,whether it is right or wrong, at the apparent cost to taxpayors.
2: My name is _________ and I have been appointed/promoted to the position of ______. Because of who I am, I am entitled to whatever I want or want to do,whether it is right or wrong, at the apparent cost to taxpayors.
3: My name is _________. I was given a trumped up job,at the apparent cost to taxpayors, to keep me from going hungry. I took advantage of my position and then ratted out my associates and peers. I did this to give my onself more power, where then, I can do whatever or whomever that I want to do. Of course, if I am asked about my participation, I will say that I did the deed for the improvement of my community.
WHEN THIS ENTITLEMENT IS ENDED AND THE PEOPLE THAT ARE IN SERVICE TO OUR GREAT COMMUNITY, ONLY SERVE; THEN WE SHOULD NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO DEAL WITH ANY INVESTIGATION OR SPLITTING APART OF THE COMMUNITY THAT I HAVE OBSERVED IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.

Excellent and accurate observation of these folks.
There is one person in this community, and more, but she is the best person I can think of for providing the type of example I am trying to illustrate.
She is from a family of means and does not have to work, yet she volunteers tirelessly. She is assertive without being pushy, kind without being a pushover, and fair without prejudice.
Our local schools have been blessed and benefited greatly from her many hours of volunteer work. She heads the PTO at Cheraw Primary.
If every public servant in this community, who is paid to be a PUBLIC SERVANT, followed her lead and example, the sky would be the limit for what this community could achieve.
I will not state her name because she would not want the attention.
As for this farce of an investigation, who knows what to think or believe anymore. The leaders of this community, and the state for that matter, had best get their ducks in a row or the status quo will remain. As a community, let’s start holding them responsible. Attend town council meetings, write letters, volunteer, and deal with whatever attitude or repercussions we get. Protest if we must. It’s time for this to end.
