Marian Hossa May Be Jinxing Our Favorite Team
First of all, we’re not hating on Marian Hossa – his luck just hasn’t been all that good lately.
After losing in last year’s Stanley Cup Finals as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he turned down a long-term deal from Pittsburgh to sign a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, saying he felt Detroit offered him a better shot at winning an elusive title.
What happened?
Yeah, Hossa’s former team won the Stanley Cup – beating his new team.
Now, Hossa is bringing his bad luck to the Windy City, home of Sic Willie’s favorite NHL squad, the Chicago Blackhawks. Hossa, 30, signed a 12-year deal worth nearly $63 million with Chicago today – meaning he’ll be 42 years old when his contract runs out.
Obviously, a veteran star like Hossa is a huge addition to the Blackhawks – who reached the Western Conference Finals this year despite having the youngest roster in the NHL.
Still, though, if it weren’t for bad luck …

simple matter to fix. just become a caps fan. plenty of room on board the bandwagon.
and yes, hossa is a harbinger of broken hockey hearts. the hawks will almost certainly make the finals (though i’m not sure huet’s the girl to get ‘em to the dance) only to lose in spectacular fashion.

TK,
Sic Willie was born in SC and has spent 33 of his 34 years here.
Now, get back to your cockfight-watchin’, moonshine-drinkin’ redneck cleptocracy …

No, no, no! Do not become a Caps fan! It is there that hockey hearts go to break. Pittsburgh is the only place for true fans. No matter how bad they get, or how close they get to going out of business (at least three times, plus a threat or two of moving out of town), they bounce back to the top of the hockey world. The hockey gods clearly favor the Pens, as they made Stanley Cup-cancer Hossa decide to dump a lucrative, long-term offer from Super Mario in favor of the disasterous (based on his stated goal) one-year stint with the Red Wings. Plus, as a Pens fan, you can enjoy a nearly annual breaking of the hearts of Caps fans, as well as a revisited breaking of the hearts of Blackhawks fans either next year, or in the near future.

gary bettman clearly favors the pens, thus the rigged draft, crap officiating and…bloodpressure rising…
as long as you live in mario’s basement, sid, you can’t say anything. you’re a grown man, embarrassment for an excuse of a playoff beard notwithstanding, making millions of dollars a year. get your own place, for the love of God.

Why is it losers and their followers always complain about officiating and rigged outcomes? I guess the numerous playoff meetings between the Pens and Caps where Pittsburgh almost always sent Washington home early can cause a rise in bloodpressure. I wouldn’t know, as the teams I cheer for don’t exhibit such utter futility against their rivals when it matters the most.
As for Sid-the-Kid’s residence and facial hair, I’m sure his (not mine, sadly) Stanley Cup is filling with tears over your remarks. He’ll probably need another next year to handle the overflow. Also to handle the tears of laughter as he leads the Pens past the Caps in the playoffs for what will seem like the millionth time. I always fret when they meet, then scold myself for ever having any doubts. I mean, come on, it’s almost as automatic an outcome as there is in life. Death, taxes, and the Caps fold to the Pens in the playoffs.

Fits for your info Hockey is nothing but a bunch of rednecks from the 51 state playing pool on ice

Actually, they’re a bunch of rednecks playing field hockey on ice (unless you’ve got some new way of playing pool that involves full contact and multiple participants). So what?
