“Ol’ Knocky” Blasted For Sanford Bashing
When do you know that the world of S.C. politics has officially turned upside down?
When S.C. Senator Jake “Ol Knocky” Knotts can hold a press conference questioning Gov. Mark Sanford’s fiscal conservatism – and be taken seriously.
Such is the post-”Mariagate” landscape in South Carolina politics, where a fiscal conservative champion has opened himself up to a withering barrage of criticism after he confessed to secretly visiting with his lover on a taxpayer-funded trip to Argentina last year.
All indications are the trip was legitimate, but that hasn’t stopped Knotts from opening up a can of rhetorical whoop-ass on the governor.
“The taxpayer money is the issue here,” Knotts said of his call for an investigation into the governor’s actions. “That’s what we need to look for.”
SLED Chief Reggie Lloyd has already addressed Knotts’ request, indicating that he has yet to see any evidence that warrants a criminal investigation. Sanford’s office has also said that the governor will refund his travel expenses from that particular leg of the trip in order to remove any appearance of impropriety.
Of course, as Robert DeNiro once told Al Pacino in the defining scene from the epic 1995 crime drama Heat, “there’s a flip side to that coin.”
Knotts himself is facing a withering barrage of criticism for his attacks on Sanford, like this one in The Conservativist.

Will–I’m not sure I agree with you yet that the Argentina portion of the trip was legit. When the Commerce Dept. says that the trade mission was originally supposed to be only to Brazil, and the Governor asks Commerce to also set up meetings in Argentina, I think that alone shows the need for an investigation on this.

Assclown Knotts is not acting on behalf of the people of SC in calling for an investigation of Sanford’s actions. Its personal hatred, and well known. How much public money are you willing to spend on this personal vandetta Jakeass?

If King David Romeo Marshall II was a Dem everyone of the cons criticizing Knotts would be having a coniption fit demanding a criminal investigation and would already be trying to fire the SLED chief for not commencing it already.
The hypocricy is just stunning, even to someone like me who has no illusions that most Republicans are anything other than lying, cheating weasels.
BTW Will, if I steal $8,000 from the govt., or a bank or a 7-11, get caught and offer to pay it back you’ll be the first one to agree the matter should just be dropped, right?
