Jenny Sanford: No Tammy Wynette
S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford isn’t “standing by her man” like most political wives, but she is giving her unfaithful husband a chance.
As you’d expect, that involves some tough love for S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, who revealed Wednesday that he had been carrying on an extramarital affair with a woman from Argentina.
“His career is not a concern of mine,” Mrs. Sanford told reporters yesterday afternoon. “He’s going to have to worry about that. I’m worried about my family and the character of my children.”
Mrs. Sanford also said she wasn’t sure whether or not their marriage would survive the scandal, which has ended her husband’s presidential aspirations and has many clamoring for him to resign as governor.
“I don’t know if he’ll be with me, but I’m going to do my best to work on my marriage because I believe in marriage. I believe raising good kids is the most important thing in the world,” she said.
Gov. Sanford spent part of the day in Sullivans Island, S.C. with this family before returning to the state capital in Columbia last night. He has a meeting with his Cabinet later today.

Have I missed something like being upset or sad on these people’s faces? Mark always has that deer in the head lights look, but does Jenny Sanford feel sad? She kinda doesn’t look sad to me….
She has on all her wedding rings in the tv clips I see. She is willing to forgive. He is repentent,
what is the problem???
Or is something else the problem?

She composed herself for the camera. It’s what classy people do, instead of feeding the media sharks with tears – like her husband did.

I concur with Geeny. Mrs. Sanford’s feelings are private and she is a class act. Even if one would, at times, like to tear one’s cheating husband from “limb to limb”, one does not let that be known to anyone, especially the public.

Maybe the whole deal is her fault. Think about the pressures that Governor Sanford has been under, then think about a wife that was headed to being a corporate exec. and her ability to understand how to support her husband in that kind of pressure cooker.

blame the wife for the cheating husband, trey? that is the kind of thinking that keeps abused women in abusive relationships. the only one to blame for sanford’s actions is mark sanford.

My take on this is that Jenny is a class act and is trying to save her marriage and family.
It appears to me that it is the Governor who isnt trying to work on the marriage.
And while it has been stated that Jenny kicked the Governor out about the same time the Governor booked his trip, I am wondering if maybe it wasnt more that the Governor booked the trip and then Jenny told him to leave if he wasnt going to work on the marriage.
Just my thoughts, but men working to save their marriage wouldnt follow an ultimaum to leave by packing up and going on a 10 day love vacation with the other woman.

The thoughts and prayers are appreciated but in all reality it PALES IN COMPARISON WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING IN IRAN RIGHT NOW…..!!!!! We can show a video of a bomb blowing up a BRIDGE from our artillery BUT we can NOT show the world what atrocities are being conducted in the streets of TEHRAN…..!?!?! MY JENNY SANFORD BACKSIDE….!!! I am fed up with the REPORTING in this state and the total lack of moral compass by our EDITORS and REPORTERS….!!!!!!
