Gov. Sanford’s “Other Woman”

According to Argentine media, this is the mysterious “Maria,” now identified as Maria Belen Chapur, the woman who is alleged to be the mistress of S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford.

Chapur, a 43-year-old mother of two, is said to be a successful executive and former TV reporter who is fluent in several languages. She lives in an upscale neighborhood in Buenos Aires and is reportedly separated from her husband.

She has known the governor for eight years, but their relationship did not become romantic until 2008.

Private emails between a woman alleged to be Chapur and Gov. Sanford were published yesterday afternoon by The (Columbia S.C.) State newspaper, hours after Sanford held a press conference admitting that he had been unfaithful in his marriage.

Sanford did not identify Chapur as his lover at yesterday’s press conference.

The governor also claimed at yesterday’s bizarre news conference that he had “spent the last five days of my life crying in Argentina,” although a source in the country tells the gossip website TMZ.com that Sanford and Chapur were “all over each other” last week in his bar, “kissing, holding hands and drinking wine.”

Chapur is said to be an executive with the Argentine multinational corporation Bunge Limited, a grain and oilseed trader that does billions of dollars in business each year. The company has denied that she is an employee, though.

Chapur is reportedly an athletic woman who enjoys playing tennis and jogging in her neighborhood.

1. Clinton was impeached for lying to the grand jury, not for having an affair. Sanford should be impeached if he stole from the taxpayers or lied under oath.

2. Maria looks a little like Sophia Loren, doesn’t she? STILL, Sanford was married. To the woman who put him in office.

I’m not saying Sanford committed an impeachable offense in all this. I’m saying he should resign. I think its a different standard. One is a matter of law and the other is doing what’s right for the sake of the party.

Anyway, Maria Belen ain’t nearly has classy-looking as Jennifer. (That mysteriously dead assistant AG, Jennifer Evans, was cute, too. She was way to young to die “of natural causes.” Wonder if Mark knew of Evan’s discovered body in the NC mountains before he took flight?)

Jennifer Evans was a dedicated public servant whose name does not deserve to be drug through the mud in connection with this tawdry affair. Her tragic death was due to natural causes and her family, friends and co-workers are grieving her loss.

My GOD, can you imagine this dork as President? The Russians could have put a real (Eastern Bloc) hottie on his trail and he would have given her the nuclear football to keep by her bedside. Granted Maria is nice looking, but worth blowing a career for? Who knows what the future might have held for Sanford, given that Obama is going to wreck the country, leading to a long, long Republican reign…IMHO. If you think Sanford as President or VP would have been out of the question, consider some that we have had (from both parties) in the past 50 years.

Maria is NOT Mark’s mistress. She is his lover. A mistress is a woman who is financially supported by a man and sleeps with him but is not his wife. Maria is self-supporting. The media should brush up on definitions.

Well I can see why this happened…Jenny…plain and homey…Maria …wild and exotic….The Gov should follow his heart, resign and go to Argentina ..real love happens but once or twice in a life time…but me thinks he went down there to do that and got the heave ho from Ms. Argentina!! I truly believe poor smiling Jenny made sure all of this came into the light. He was going to run off leaving her with the boys and all of the fallout, not to mention the embarrassment. Now who is embarrassed, the love of his life sent him back home quick, fast and in disgrace. “Way to go Jenny”. I’m glad you did not stand there with him looking stupid, like the one’s who stood there in the past.

mr Sanford brain is not located in his head. I am sure that this is not the first time he has decieved his wife, friends and the people of SC.
He just didn’t get caught the other times. Bit dog always the loudest.

He lived off his wife smarts and family money.

I would Vote for her if she ran for Govenor next year. She has Class!

In retrospect, am thinking the estranged spouse to be pretty hot too…. certainly she is considerably more classy than either the Gov or his “thang”

It’s not how hot and beautiful his lover is and how unattractive his wife is, it’s that he treated the citizens of this state shabibly and not to mention his family. Away on Father’s Day from his sons is unforgiveable. I really feel sorry for THEM! God doesn’t want us to relish over others pain.
