hall-pass

S.C. Sen. Jake Knotts has given Gov. Mark Sanford permission to take a fifteen-minute bathroom break upon his return to Columbia later this evening.

In dropping the hall pass off at the governor’s office earlier this afternoon, Knotts said he was “concerned” for the governor’s bladder.

In related news, S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer put out a press release demanding that he be notified when Sanford decided to take his restroom break.

will…..

surely, there have to be a few skeletons in what i am sure is an appropriately large closet at jakie’s house?

Let me get this correct:

In SC, a closeted gay Christian Conservative Lt. Governor attacks a libertarian Governor for going hiking.

Said Lt. Governor uses a 2 ton Senator, that votes with the Democrats more often than not, to do much of his dirty work.

Do I have this right?

Man, is SC a sewer.

Andre Bauer = Gay Democrat

Jakie Knotts = Fatass Democrat

Mark Sanford = Just plain stupid

Thank God for manufactured press stories…gives folks like me an opportunity to chime in.

GaBoy,

You nailed it.

In following national news outlets’ versions of this story I can’t decide what is more comical:

- That this is thought of as damaging Sanford’s “prospective Presidential candidacy (should he choose to run) in 2012.” http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NjQwMWUyNzVhODk0NWZjOWFhNmZiZGM0MzdkOWFhMDk=

Or,

- That Fat Jakey is being treated as some sort of voice of reason in the whole ordeal. “The way things are in the world today and homeland security, we need the governor to be fingertips away,” Knotts said. “Somebody’s got to be in charge.”"

Yikes.

How friendly of Jake to come to the aid of Andre…grandstanding at its best. The real question is why would the governor not entrust the lt. governor with the state in his absence? Then again why has he never? Incompetance….hmmmmmm.

Sara,

We’re saying a little prayer right now that you’re not spam …

Jake, why all the Sanford love? Aren’t you supposed to be running around naked in Santee? More to come….

I found Knotts’s comments to be quite ironic. Just days after the legislature overrides more vetoes and the state supreme court issues declaratory judgment confirming that substantially all of governmental authority lies with the legislature, Knotts has the audacity to say that he’s worried that the governor isn’t around to oversee the state. In other words, Knotts and co. cry foul if the governor tries to manage the state and then complain that he can’t go on sabbatical because it’s his job to manage the state.

Forget Knotts, there is a story here. Something does not add up. A dad wants to get away from his sons on Father’s Day? He is hiking on the App. Trail, but his last cell phone contact was Atlanta? Media reports have in the airport? He does not do what every Governor in memory has done and inform the Lt. Governor when he is to be out of state? His wife and closest friends have no idea where he is?

Come on, hide it as you will with smart assed remarks about Knotts, but Governor Sanford has real questions to answer. He is either crazy or politically stupid. There is no spin out of this. Unless Sanford was negotiating peace with North Korea or getting thousands of jobs, this is very damaging.

Something stinks here. And, those who pay for their agendas to be carried out should be concerned and want the answers as much as the rest of us.

Will, if you are still advising the Governor, he needs a drop dead press conference soon. He should stand there and answer every question about his absence until no one has any questions. Even that might not work. This was a major screwup. Mr. Rich has to be pissed.

Father’s Day is a Hallmark creation. We all know that the important holidays are Christmas and Easter.

The extreme, radical left is controlling America, and pushing their radical agenda down our throats, without the pretense of compromise or discussion.

I don’t see Nancy Pelosi or Barb Boxer reaching across the aisle.

The unprecedented take-over of GM, the bail-outs of the banking industry, the hi-jacking of our health care system, and wrong-headed, statist environmental policies, will suffocate our children’s liberties.

Sanford had the guts to take on the Obama Machine and lost. Now he will be devoured by the media and Rinos alike.
