Lone Nut No Longer

ron-paul

Ron Paul is officially mainstream.

Sure, last week there was his quirky, lone dissenting vote against a Congressional resolution condemning Iran’s use of force against pro-Democracy protesters in Tehran, but that’s par for the Paul course.

Much more relevant (i.e. non-ceremonial) is Paul’s bill to audit the Federal Reserve Bank, which has a whopping 237 co-sponsors.

Here’s some context from GetLiberty.org:

In 1983, largely due to the policies of the Fed Chairman Paul Volcker and President Ronald Reagan, the American people were finally rid of the burden of astronomical inflation. The policy of the Carter Administration attempting to offset unemployment with having the Federal Reserve print money was at last at an end.

At the same time, a fresh-faced congressman named Ron Paul (R-TX) decided that because of this, it was a good opportunity to investigate the very institution that had helped wreak havoc on the economy with runaway inflation. That same year, he proposed H.R. 877 a bill that would allow the General Accounting Office (GAO) to audit the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Advisory Council, the Federal Open Market Committee, and the Fed banks and branches themselves.

Dr. Paul was able to garner only 18 co-sponsors on that bill, which died with little to no support. Like many of his bills, supporting liberty and transparency, it was sent to committee were it ultimately met its slow and unheralded death.

But, that was then and this is now. With the Federal Reserve, loose monetary policy, and impending inflation making headlines in the mainstream media, more attention is finally being paid to a near identical bill—H.R. 1207—that Congressman Paul reintroduced in February of this year.

Looks like Ron Paul – and common sense – may not be as whacky as some in the Republican Party think.

Never was a nut. He’s common sense, circa 1787.

This is great and I am glad they are fighting. But of course these crooks will never let this happen. For this many to sign on, I also think they already know how it is going to get shot down and they are just signing on to look good. The senate is bought and that is why we need to repeal the 17th amendment.

Congress getting smart for once will probably never happen. Serious reform is likely to get cut down by the financial powers that be, but if it ever did I think what would come out would shock the general public.

What does the mainstream media call a person in congress with backbone and principle who does not cater to lobbyists? A “nut”.

Can you believe we are so dam stupid as to not audit the Federal Reserve? These crooks print money and loan it out to their buddies – and our congress is too scared to audit them?

One thing that worries me about the Fed Audit is once it is expossed and abollished what will it be replaced with. My worry is the Amero will be the solution, just like the Euro, and our present Dollar the trust will be put right back in to another Rothschild controlled Fiat currency bank on a global scale. In other words the same people that caused the problem will still be running the show. But Ron Paul has rocked the establishment hard on a revolutionary scale and they went out of their way to margenalize him! All they accomplished was reinvigorating the informed citizen now we have a shot at We The People once again!

I hope he runs again, I think he will be a serious threat next time round. I think the people who didn’t listen to him the first time around and labeled him a quack will start listening to him because in four years time this will be a radically altered country and a lot of what he said will have bared fruit. There are a lot of Republicans who if you get down to it, should really be running independent. I wish they would do so and help divide up the two party system that has and continues to destroy government in our country. Get rid of the ridiculous Green party and other unrealistic “independent” parties and get serious with the label. I am willing to bet there is a large segment of Americans who would go to an independent party if there was a serious one with serious money and talent. Right now independent parties are the weirdos of politics and that image is something that will be hard to overcome. Ron Paul did stir the soup though and I hope it continues.

What inflation? Are we not more worries about deflation. I do not think that there is too much money chasing after too few goods and services. The opposite is happening, too many goods and services chasing after not enough money. One the economy gets rolling again, then we should worry about inflation instead of worrying about inflation even though deflationary conditions are present.

He was never a nut to begin with.

Also, his “No” vote one the Iranian Resolution is completely consistent with the rest of his “No” votes over the years in regards to “no-teeth”, “meddling”, “rewarding”, or “condemning” resolutions where our Congress has no Constitutional authority to be doing so.

These points aside, I agree with you final sentiment, that it would be nice to see him held higher within the GOP establishment. The OL’ Party is about through unless they’ll accept Paul and his army of supporters.

its a shame all of the fake conservatives insulted this man, he was the only person running that was worth a damn. Shame on all of you traitors to america.

Brad says no inflation? I just paid 2.45 for gas(of course gas doesn’t count in the govt. numbers). Compare 2.45 to 3 or 4 years ago.

If you go out for dinner, I bet you are paying 30% more for a meal today than 4 years ago.
Inflation is easily measured. Just look at the US dollar index . Today it closed at 81.00. In December 2001, months after 9/11, it was trading at 122.00. That plainly shows dollar erosion, or put another way, it is inflation, which is a silent form of taxation.

If you don’t think I have the power to manipulate the minds of millions, just look at that video clip above.

I can mold the minion mind into any shape I desire.

Common sense is not so common…

Anyway, the good news is that HR 1207 has 237 co-sponsors and is gaining momentum every week. This will help with companion bill S604 in the Senate. If your CongressCritter is not on yet as a co-signor, light up them switchboards this week!!

How many Federal Reserve notes do you have in your wallet?
Don’t you think with all the turmoil and crime in today’s banking world, it should be mandatory for our government to audit the cartel that prints our Federal Reserve notes?

I wonder if Lindsey Graham supports auditing the Fed?
