A South Carolina Young Republican leader remains in serious condition at a Columbia, S.C. hospital after being savagely attacked during a home invasion late last week, sources tell FITS.
Her attacker remains at large, and police currently have no suspect or motive in the case.
Twenty-four year-old Nettie Britts, chairwoman of the Richland County Young Republicans organization, was brutally beaten after finding the invader in her home sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
Britts has been active in numerous political campaigns, including the 2008 presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
A graduate of Ben Lippen High School and Midlands Technical College, she is currently a graduate student at the University of South Carolina.
Police are asking anyone with information that may aid in the apprehension of a suspect to call S.C. Crimestoppers at (888) CRIME-SC.
In the meantime, we hope you will join us in praying for Britts, her friends and family.
Developing …

My prayers are certainly with her as well. She’s a big fan of the Blogland, which means anything I can do to help, or to ensure the SOB who did this pays dearly …

Another sad story out of North Columbia, but typical for that part of town.

I swear, these people that do this kind of thing are the scum of scum. I feel sorry for the person or persons that ever try to invade my home, danger my family, or myself.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope for her full recovery and that they string up the SOB that’s responsible for this. Is it possible we can find out how she is doing?

Hey FITS, remember that article you did a while back on the goons that beat people up for political reasons? Any reason to suspect the young lady got a taste of the GOP medicine?????

Local news says: “The suspect broke into her home, and the statement released by the party says Britts woke up with a gun to her head. It’s thought that the suspect then hit her with a gun numerous times.” which contradicts what you posted. What’s your source for your information?

Jennifer Evans could have prosecuted this puke, but she’s now dead. God help us. What that wonderful champion of justice takes to her grave likely brings relief to her targets. I’m really depressed over all of this.

Lou, that’s pretty freakin’ cold.
Christa, right now, I’ve asked around quite a bit out of concern for her as a friend and fan of my blg. Nobody I’ve talked to is talking on the record, and what they say is hush-hush. It could be either of these, or it could be something different. All we know for sure is this girl was savagely attacked, the perp is on the loose and she’s in the hospital for what could be a very long recovery time. Thank God it wasn’t worse.
Having grown up in a law enforcement household, odds are good that nobody who really knows is going to say much of anything until they have a suspect in custody.

This whole thing is devastating. I am praying for her full recovery and that they catch the person who committed this crime.
Before we start speculating as to politics with this horrific crime, for those of you not familiar with Columbia, the neighborhood/area where this attack took place (North Main area near Fairfield Rd./Wilson Blvd.) is not the best of areas and probably not an area you would recommend. I’m not going to say anything further, but you get the idea.

Get well soon.

I recently attended a presentation on the Columbia Task Force on Gang Violence. They showed a map of Columbia with different areas color coded to show which gangs were active in those areas, ie their staked turf. And yes, her neighborhood is surrounded by gang activity. You would be shocked to see all the areas of Columbia where gangs are present! Biggest ones are the Bloods (from NYC), and the GKBs Gangsta Killer Bloods. Everyone needs to be on the lookout for gang symbols where you live or work or drive through. Stay safe!

Hang tough, Nettie.
Don’t just capture the worm that did this. Take him out.
