TMZ Should Refrain From Covering Sports
We’d like to state for the record (again) that whatever happens in the National Basketball Association – a.k.a. the “No Defense League” – is of such little consequence to us as to merit absolutely none of our attention.
Well, except for this post, obviously. And that one about LeBron James – which we did because we felt our hockey obsession was starting to anger the NAACP, which clearly hasn’t had much going on in South Carolina this week.
Anyway, since it’s always funny to watch people “eat it”
Take TMZ.com, which vastly underestimated the ego of one Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers – who appears to have won his fourth NBA Championship this year.
From TMZ’s bash of LeBron:
For the record — you won’t see Kobe Bryant wearing a shirt with his individual accomplishments plastered on the front of it during his championship parade today — he’s gonna let the trophy do the talking.
Oops.
As it turns out, that sentence was 100% not accurate, as Bryant “for the record” did wear a shirt “with his individual accomplishments plastered on the front of it.”
Via Deadspin, here’s the catch from Wait Till Next Year:
In case you don’t get the shirt, that’s puppet Kobe’s hand with four rings. Not a 2009 Laker’s championship shirt. Not a 15-time champions shirt. Not even the team caricature shirt. Pretty sure that’s an individual accomplishment type of thing there.
“Perhaps they should stick to following Paris Hilton around like sad little dogs …” the website noted, dismissively.
Ouchers.
Incidentally, there’s no word yet on what Florida Rep. Corrine Brown has to say about any of this … which is a pity.

“Well, accept for this post obviously.”
Ouchers! Wrong word AND bad punctuation, all in one sentence. A pretty short sentence, too. I know FITS is better than this.
