Another Republican Fraud
Another high-profile Republican who likes to tout “family values” and sanctimoniously moralize on other politicians’ shortcomings has himself succumbed to the “sinful pleasures of the flesh.”
U.S. Sen. John Ensign (R-Nevada) admitted yesterday to having an extended affair with a married woman, Cindy Hampton, who worked on his campaign and for his “Battle Born” Political Action Committee.
Ensign is married with three children and has been active in social conservative groups for years, including a pro-family organization called Promise Keepers with his wife, Darlene. He is the fourth-ranking Republican in the U.S. Senate and is (was) widely viewed as a possible 2012 presidential candidate.
Incidentally, Hampton’s husband, Doug, also worked for Ensign on Capitol Hill.
Here’s the all-too predictable statement from the Senator:
I take full responsibility for my actions. I know that I have deeply hurt and disappointed my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my staff and the people of Nevada who believed in me not just as a legislator but as a person. I deeply regret and am very sorry for my actions.
Whatever.
Nine out of ten of these Holy Rolling Republican politicians are 100% full of it – it’s just a question of when they get caught.
Anyway, there are signs the Ensign saga is only going to get uglier as there are allegations that blackmail was involved in the Senator’s decision to make the affair public.
Ensign has said he has no intention of resigning and that he plans to stay in office with his wife’s “support.”

What amazes me more than someone cheating on their significant other is when the significant others decide to stay with that person. Not sure how you can restore trust after something like that.

What I thought was the best about his whole thing was the quote from his wife about how “when we found out about a year ago.” Hey Lady, just a thought, I think your husband already knew – I know the press release was probably done in your absence and “we” sounds a lot better and more unity like, but I just can stop laughing about the thought of her an her husband finding it out together that he has been cheating…?

It is too bad that conservatives need to run on a platform of family values. If it weren’t for that, it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
It just seems unreasonable that he would publicly promote the sanctity of marriage while in private disregarding all that he stands for.
He is weak and shallow and a lair. He should never be allowed to run this country.

You see what is happening in Iran- they got some hypocritical holy rollers in charge who fixed an election and are now nervously watching the masses riot in the streets.
We do not need any more holy rollers in Washington. We need someone who can keep his penis in his pants, serve one term, balance the budget, and go back to private life. This bozo has been effectively neutered. He is worthless and now needs to resign, even though he is now a perfect poster boy for the heterosexual arm of the republican party- with Lindsey well representing the other branch.
