A broadcasting era ends today as television stations pull the plug on their analog signals and switch to all-digital broadcasts, to which we can only say “Thank God.”

No kidding, if we have to listen to another one of those mind-numbing “Big Switch” commercials we might literally blow our brains out all over one of the eight 55″ plasma TV we keep in our conference room.

You  know, cause we’re rich like that …

The “Big Switch” – which was originally scheduled for February – could leave as many as 2 million analog recipients without TV service, despite the fact that the government has been subsidizing advertising and handing out “Big Switch” coupons like crazy to analog recipients in a taxpayer-funded effort to get them to, well, switch.

The coupons are redeemable up to $40, which is exactly the cost of a low-end converter box.

Ordinarily, this is where we’d launch into a rant about what a massive, taxpayer-funded boondoggle all of this is but seriously, if local TV stations will promise to stop airing these annoying ads, we’ll hold our fire …

Well, in addition to that, they also have to stop interrupting every sporting event we try to watch with reports of “damaging hail” in some redneck corner of the country.

Seriously, there’s “damaging hail” in friggin’ Lugoff, SC?

Please pardon us while we refrain from caring.
