Sanford Falls Off National GOP Watchlist
If S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s intention was to use the recently-concluded fight over $700 million in disputed “stimulus” funds to boost his national profile, mission not accomplished.
In fact, according to a recently-updated watchlist of top Republican leaders, Sanford’s stock within his own party is falling.
As of last Friday, the governor had fallen completely off of the list maintained by Washington Post reporter/ political blogger Chris Cillizza.
Cillizza’s list doesn’t necessarily measure presidential preferences, but it is a barometer of various politicians’ standing within the national Republican power structure.
And it includes at least five politicians who are frequently mentioned as 2012 prospects.
Hmmmm … sounds to us like the governor’s Beltway-based political consultant needs to step it up a bit …

Sanfraud does belong on a watchlist. He bears watching if he ever gets behind you or if you drop the soap.
