S.C. Republicans are still pointing fingers at each other in the wake of a contentious Republican “whip” meeting that took place shortly after last month’s SCGOP convention.
Sources are now telling FITS that controversial comments attributed to House Speaker Bobby Harrell were made in response to what one veteran lawmaker called a “hissy fit” from freshman Rep. Jenny Horne.
In fact, these sources tell FITS that Harrell was actually defending so-called “Ron Paul Republicans” against an “anti-Sanford rant” by Horne, who was reportedly angered that Gov. Mark Sanford singled out individual lawmakers for praise in his convention speech.
Is this what actually happened?
We’ve had some interaction with Rep. Horne in the past, and while we certainly disagree with her voting record and choice of friends in Columbia, she’s always struck us as a level-headed, reasonable woman. She’s also represents a district that backed Sanford to the tune of 70% in the last election.
Harrell, on the other hand, has a well-deserved reputation as a vindictive hothead – as his wars against GOP Rep. Nikki Haley and S.C. Policy Council President Ashley Landess attest.
So … is this report the result of Team Bobby looking for another female scapegoat?
Our original sources stand by their story that Harrell belittled libertarian-leaning Republicans in his comments, but couldn’t shed any new light on Horne’s alleged outburst.
Stay tuned …

Doesn’t sound like Jenny Horne. Sic, like you said, Horne is a reasonable woman. She’s a solid reformer in Columbia.

Hissy fits are beautiful things when they are sincere, and when they are about things that need a good Rant-n-Roll!
I pitched one yesterday about two tickets I got. And I will pitch a gorgeous one in court July 10.

A solid reformer? That is yet to be proven! She certainly can be but she will need to get from behind RINO Annette Young to prove that.
