Straw Man?

straw-man

Like a long-legged Indian-American puppeteer, S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley is deftly pulling the strings of this website to advance a “straw man,” or an “informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent’s position.”

And yes, we copied and pasted that definition directly from Wikipedia because we were way too stoned during most of high school days to remember logic class.

Ad homo? What?

Are you calling us fags, dude?

Kidding … kidding. Anyway, our alleged “straw man” … or the subject of our alleged “straw man” … or our alleged “straw man” method … (or whatever “straw man” should modify in this run-on sentence) was exposed today by the paid political blogging of Adam Fogle over at the Palmetto Scoop.

According to Fogle, we reside at ground zero of a nefarious plot to frame Rep. Haley’s gubernatorial campaign around a series of nasty personal attacks against House Speaker Bobby Harrell – who last time we checked was not running for governor.

And who we’ve been attacking for years …

But wait! That’s the alleged genius of the plan …

From the Scoop:

“(Haley) knows there’s no way she can truly take on the big three gubernatorial candidates, so she’s going to campaign against someone who isn’t even running,” a source told The Palmetto Scoop. “It’s kind of a sad strategy, but I guess it’s the best she’s got.”

Hey, that actually sounds pretty good to us. Of course the last time we checked the “big three” (a.k.a. U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster and Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer) were having some “big” problems – meaning they might not be so “big” after all.

Politically-speaking, of course.

But rather than get into any of that we’ve decided to issue a blanket admission of whatever the hell it is Adam’s accusing us of.

Sure, little fella … we did it … whatever it is.

We’ll also link you to his article one last time in case you didn’t catch it earlier, and because we like helping handicapped people around here.

are you going to comment on Haley’s vote to accept federal stimulus, or was that not a big deal to you?

“Sicster,”

Rest assured, son. Contrary to the popular perceptions out there we are owned by no one and tethered to nothing.

Stick around … stay awhile.

Remember when they said we were shilling for Gresham Barrett?

Yeah …

Remember they said we were shilling for the governor?

Yeah …

In other words, be careful who you accuse Sic Willie of shilling of.

Does the author of the Palmetto Scoop still work for a political consulting company that is currently has a retainer with Henry McMaster and is and will be doing work on his gubernatorial campaign? If so then I would have appreciated this disclaimer on his article.

Will, you make money by offering your services of slandering politicians with complete lies on this site. I know this for a fact man. I really don’t care (seeing as you have little to no influence on sane people), I just think it’s funny when this happens and you have to cover your ass for it by writing a response piece.

Matt,

Yes, he does. We’ve pointed that out in the past, obviously. Don’t know why we neglected it in this case.

Nate,

We’d simply refer you to our post and our prior comment. We obviously like Rep. Haley more than the other candidates, but that will not stop us from ripping her a new one when/if we feel she deserves it.

Nor will all the money she is paying us under the table … oops! We forgot! We weren’t supposed to talk about that. :)

Here we go again. Clemson, through the most respectable Catherine Watt, director of the Alliance for Research on Higher Education at Clemson University’s Strom Thurmond Institute, demonstrated that the current Clemson administration, Barker and Helms, is doing unethical and even illegal manipulation of numbers. And this is an educational institution?
Or just a Barker and Helms power quest.
Wake up people! Shame on Clemson
