Floridafication
We’re not sure where Van Halen filmed their “Hot For Teacher” video, but the state of Florida seems to be the venue of choice for an increasing number of real-life “Hot For Student” dramas.
In fact, another arrest last week prompted Time magazine to delve into the peninsular pedagogue problem.
One theory? That it’s all just meteorological …
From Time:
Why should Florida seem to be experiencing an especially high number of such cases? Are those women, and for that matter the hormonally charged boys they target, somehow egged on by the state’s more sexually relaxed atmosphere, with its sultry climate and scantily clad beach culture?
Obviously, there was a lot more to the report than that, but juxtaposed as it was with the ubiquitous Debra Lafave references, that part stuck in our minds for some reason. (alright, alright … yes it was a naughty reason).
So why is Florida really home to so much student-teacher sex?
Short answer? Who the hell knows. We don’t live in Florida.
One theory that actually made a little more sense, though, was the notion that all of the publicity surrounding the Lafave case (and a rash of other recent busts) has made Floridians more attuned to student-teacher sex acts.
Our theory? Blame it on Wild Things …
