Herzog: Left Ignores “Islamic Gender Apartheid”

veil

What’s so great about conservative columnist Ashley Herzog is that she’s every bit as controversial as she is train smoke hot – which means it’s a good thing she lives in a country that doesn’t require women to cover every inch of their bodies.

Because that would be a tragedy for hand parties everywhere. A serious tragedy, people.

Anyway, exercising another freedom that’s denied women in the Islamic world, Herzog took to the Internets yesterday via her Townhall column to rail against the hypocrisy of Islam’s Western apologists …

… it’s not surprising when Muslim immigrants import their rape-supportive cultures to the West: in 2001, Norwegian newspapers reported that two-thirds of rape suspects were Muslim men.

How did the Western apologists respond? Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, said the victims had it coming for not veiling themselves from head to toe, as women in countries like Saudi Arabia are forced to do.

“Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes,” Wikan said. “Women must realize that we live in a multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.” (Wikan echoed Danish Muslim leader Shahid Mehdi, who said women who don’t veil themselves are “asking for rape.”)

Herzog goes on to highlight a similar phenomena as it relates to the horrific act of female genital mutilation, which is still practiced in many third world countries as a way to deprive women of their enjoyment of sex.

This despicable act is specifically encouraged as a “laudable practice” by the top Sunni Muslim sheik – which obviously runs counter to the popular myth that Islam doesn’t condone such barbarism.

Anyway, good for Ashley. She gets huge props from us for zeroing in on all this.

We’re all for tolerance and multiculturalism around here, but a big part of that is retaining our ability to not only be honest – but to flat out condemn other cultures for crap like this.

Check out Ashley’s column in its entirety by clicking here.

Update – Oh and one other thing … since some of these oil-hoarding, terrorist-enabling, camel-shagging sexist jackoffs obviously haven’t gotten the memo. You WANT your women to enjoy sex. No really …

I have to agree with Unni Wikan..How are we supposed to control ourselves when these evil women show us their skin.Although Muslim women have the sexiest ankles..ooooohhhh aawwwwww

Great article, Ashley!

I love how you get to the nugget of the truth — “It’s the Jews’ fault.”

OMGoodness Girl!

At the risk of again being nicknamed Methuselah for my old-fashioned beliefs, women of the West have much to learn about dressing more modestly. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

We degrade ourselves by dressing like ho’s to conform to our own culture. Even as we tout our equality here, we still dress to please men.

But wait –

I forgot to mention the whole point!

When the Left finally reaches the point where they try to reconcile this huge frickin’ disconnect in their logic — please, somebody have a camera ready to record the stupor on their faces!

After spending a considerable amount of time (off and on since 1987) working in the Arab/Muslim world, I can assure you that no real discussion of the cultural issues attendant to Muslim society and/or cultural assimilation is taking place in the West. To even hint that one culture may be inferior to another quickly gets you branded by the PC crowd as a racist or a xenophobe, regardless of the underlying cultural problems being discussed. My boss at an embassy in the Muslim world had a screensaver that said it all- “Marching to the beat of a 14th Century drummer.”

May the casting of aspersions upon me begin…

Oh — Mikey –

If anyone starts throwing asp er stuff around here it will be BIN.

I shall now hide and wait for him to come out of the woodwork…

Again, another bullshit, strawman argument from Herzog. The grand total of her evidence to support the “love affair between leftists in the West and radical Muslims” is a Somalia ex-pat, a clown nobody has every heard of in Norway and a one sentence quote in an obscure journal.

Democratic politicians, left advocacy groups – including every feminist group, Amnesty International and dozens of other left-leaning human rights groups and individuals – have been assailing these practices with a universal voice for decades. Even the laziest search on the internet would have provided more than ample evidence that Herzog was intentionally and overwhelmingly full of shit.

So when did conservatives become concerned with these issues? Nixon, Ford Reagan and H.W. Bush said it was none of our concern. Right-wing activist groups didn’t care as long as it didn’t bother with cheap oil and the Cold War. They even condemned liberals for inserting themselves in the internal affairs of other countries. On the other side, Carter condemned these practices. So did Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright. Hillary Clinton had a speech in March 1999 where she said:

“There probably is no more egregious and systematic trampling of fundamental rights of women today than what is happening in Afghanistan under the iron rule of the Taliban…We have heard all of us the stories of women being flogged with metal cables because a bit of ankle would be showing. We have heard of women being taken to hospital after hospital and finally dying … because there were no women doctors and no male doctor could be permitted to treat the women,” she continued…It is no longer acceptable to say that the abuse and mistreatment of women is cultural. It should be called what it is — criminal.”

So nice try, Ashley, but the facts suggest a reality altogether different.

Pat,

You are ignoring all the required reading material I previously assigned you upon your request for me to do so. Like this article — which expounds upon “the bizarre and singular marriage between the Left and Islamism.”

http://sunlituplands.blogspot.com/2009/05/obamas-jewish-problem.html

Pay specific attention to these paragraphs, almost half-way down the page:

“In an article, “The United Hates of America,” David Solway comments on “…the long and destabilizing campaign of the American Left against the political interests of its own country and its rush to embrace the dictatorial agendas of America’s most resolute enemies…’the unholy alliance’ between the radical Left and the Islamic Right.” Solway also comments on a new book by Jamie Glazov, “United in Hate”:

“Glazov’s “analysis,” Solway continues, “seems the only conceivable means of making sense of the leftist orgy of national treason, betrayal of genuine liberal principles, and passionate support of tyrants and demagogues. It also clarifies the bizarre and singular marriage between the Left and Islamism…”

Mab, I do like you the best on fits. Your penchant for exclamation points, your willingness to repeat absurd talking points almost fast as you repeat blog generated conspiracy theories, your total and incomplete inability to use or acknowledge facts – these tendencies make you a fitsnews Allstar.

Glad the orderlies let you use the computer today.

PS: If you rearranged the article you cited and replaced the word “Space Alien” with “Islamic” it would be far better. At least funny.

By Mab on May 27th, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Pat,

Are you referring to my “total and incomplete inability to use or acknowledge facts” as they relate to your posts?

Are you kidding me? I skim most of your posts unless you are specifically talking to me.

One blogger refers to the Left as being “hive minded.”

I am definitely not in your hive!!!

By Cadetsuperintendent on May 27th, 2009 at 3:36 pm

I know all muslims are not arabs, and that all arabs
are not muslim, but are they human at all?

By Pat Hendrix on May 27th, 2009 at 3:57 pm

No Mab, I’m referring to the fact your posts are totally devoid of fact. And to only skim my posts, you certainly do respond to them enough. Figured you had a crush.

And I’m not sure what “hive” I hang out in? I hang around fitsnews, a giant right-wing circle jerk. You on the other hand hang around sinlituplands.com. I bet there is wide variety of opinions there. Do you know the word irony?

By Mab on May 27th, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Very much so, Cadet. Why do you ask? That sounds awfully similar to the old KKK propaganda that certain races don’t have souls. Ummmmmmmmm…

By Mab on May 27th, 2009 at 4:25 pm

Pat,

Yes.

Sorry, no strawman argument here- Do even a quick review online for articles detailing the very real level of support for Hamas and Hezbollah among the far left wing of the American political scene. Back during my days as a counter-terrorism official, I was practically booed off of a speakers’ panel at a SC university for suggesting that Hamas (or at the very least its paramilitary wing) functioned as a terrorist organization. Never mind the fact that most western democracies (even the EU) agree. Who led the charge against me there? One of the left-wing, nutcake professors on the panel with me…

The article may have been a bit overdone, but the underlying thesis is sound.

By the way, Pat’s point regarding the late arrival of American conservatives to this party- dead on. The intelligence community has communicated this message as clearly as we could to the political class for many years, but as we all know they hear what they want to hear based upon their own agendas.

By Pat Hendrix on May 28th, 2009 at 8:27 am

Well Mike, you managed to miss the point entirely. The issue, as detailed in the title, was “left ignores gender apartheid.” Well, no it doesn’t and never did. Some vocal support in university circles for Hammas, as if the university setting encapsulated the entirety of of the left, has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Liberal groups have been the primary voices in the discussion of gender discrimination in Islam and mutilation in Africa and the Middle East for decades.
