Proving once again that real “strategery” isn’t in their repertoire, Republicans have somehow managed to blunt the first little bit of momentum they’ve had in months.
Just when it seemed a top Democrat was reeling from a major self-induced political scandal, leave it to a roomful of white men with cultural blinders and too much time on their hands to throw her a rope.
Specifically, we’re talking about the Bond rip-off “Pelosi Galore” video, which the consultants over at the Republican National Committee apparently thought would help the GOP capitalize on the whole Nancy Pelosi CIA scandal.
First, here’s the video:
Yeah … it’s not all that good.
Plus, let’s be honest, it’s juvenile. Like something FITS would do to be funny … except we’d have had the guts to say the word “pussy.”
So what should Republicans have done? That’s simple – nothing.
For those of you who have never read Sun Tzu’s Art of War, there’s some wise counsel (often attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte) about never interrupting your enemy when he (or in this case, she) is making a mistake.
Clearly, though, Republicans just can’t help themselves.
Along with their “pot, meet kettle” declaration of Democratic socialism last week, it’s obvious that the leaders of this party are running on empty in the idea department.
Which would be fine if they would accompany their stupidity with silence.
But lost within the whole “is it or isn’t offensive” discussion of the “Alotta Pelosi” video is the larger point …
Whatever happened to letting your policies do the talking? And speaking of which, whatever happened to the introduction of smart, fiscally responsible policy?
Seriously, Barack Obama is introducing stupid, fiscally irresponsible policy – but at least he’s talking about issues. And while they may be driving this country off of a cliff, he’s not calling anybody a “pussy” in the process. Believe it or not, smart public policy – in addition to being a virtue in its own right – is imminently sellable. Which is why it’s so amazing that “Republicans” aren’t even trying to sell any.
Indeed, Republicans at the moment are nothing more than noisy cans tied to the back bumper of the wedded bliss that Obama continues to enjoy with the American public – most of whom are either offended by or ignorant of all the partisan back-and-forth.
The GOP has no message – nor do they have a leg to stand on, because let’s not forget it was the GOP whose fiscal excesses ushered in the age of Pelosi three years ago as well as the age of Obama we are currently living under.
Frankly, there are plenty of socialists – and pussies – to go around in both major political parties.

Here is an idea for the brain dead Republicans- The people fear their money is being stolen . We need to have transparency at the Federal Reserve- show us where the tarp money went, who got it, at what interest rate, and with what kind of collateral backing it up.
The Republicans should get behind auditing the Federal Reserve and blast the Democrats when they fail to get behind the bill.
Look at how transparency has transformed the political landscape the last 9 months in SC – Nikki Haley for Governor is an example of how far the transparency train can go.

If it makes you feel better, the Democratic Party will inevitably screw up so bad that the voters will have to give back power to the Republicans. I would have said 6-8 years from now given the terrible leadership of the Dems, but the Republicans seem determined to dig themselves into a generational hole. But as long as you have Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi fowling everything up, you have a chance.
