People need to get their stories straight before they tell them.
First, Safrona Finch is not nor has she been in any treatment. I just spoke with her in person in Cheraw and she is fine. I did not right out ask but it appears she is still working but maybe on leave.
Second,this Barbara Bullard person is she one and the same that has had problems at several non-rpofits around the area?

I knew someone who worked at Voc. Rehab and they were really trying to get a job. They were not there for drugs, or any such problem, but had physical problems and mild psychiatric ones. Their check would sometimes total $7.00 for a day. There were workers talking about the bosses in charge there taking money, but no one would say anything. The place was investigated, but apparently nothing came of it too much. Accordingly, there were people sleeping on job there, not to mention other things. Just one more example why this county is so poor, no one gets any REAL help, we continue to score lowest on school testing, teenage pregnancy is rampant, etc.

And to Jon, how can you report anything if there is no one there to listen OR who you report to is part of the whole scam? The Link if the first to report any real news (thanks, Leighton). Look how long it took for the Charlotte and Myrtle Beach paper to pick up the solicitor story and then very short articles. I wonder also if every candidate is corrupt. But you are right the public does not monitor enough, but then again, if one does or dares say anything, they most often get threatened.

FYI to Hardyboys, my sources tell me that is was Mrs. Finch, former Administrator that pushed to get Mr. Harrington into his position. Of course, you may already know that since you are an “insider” anyway.

hardyboys, this is where we fail as a community. these are the situations that should be brought to everyone’s attention and hold officials accountable or at least make them publically defend their decisions. This would create a track record and allow voters to make a more informed decision during an election. we are all guilty of just looking the other way until it has some direct influence in our personal lives.

Cheraw (Chesterfield) and Bennettsville (Marlboro) are both corrupt to the core. Why would new solicitor appoint Morris Harrington as drug court judge when he knew about his past? How soon we forget! Harrington was over rehab center in Bennettsville and when money disappeared and investigation was taking place, all records from office “mysteriously’ disappeared. No records, no charges!

That is certainly a good question. Lots of people did not know about the existence of Mercy Ministries, nor who was involved in its operation, where the office was, etc. Just like no one really knew Hodge was still on as an assistant solicitor. I understand the need for discretion for the protection of clients, but still very secretive. Like all involved parties now, an ongoing investigation, yes, but everyone very quiet.

Good advice. If you have some concrete evidence give it up to the feds. I have a question: How many NEEDY PEOPLE did Mercy Ministries actually help???

Dear Interested Person:

Check out the Logic Connection. Barbara Bullard wrote a very enlightening response to them about Hodge’s statements in local papers. Also, Mr. Rogers responded to The Link, stating it would be “inappropriate for him as a court official to comment on an ongoing investigation.” That’s fine, but he could comment on why he let go of 2 asst. solicitor’s (someone submitted to the editorial section asking about that in Chronicle or Link) and other questions about allegations. In other words, he’s still remaining silent. While Vick, Mayor (regardless of radio interview), Finch, and others have made small statements, still no real answers or responses.

The FBI is here because people presented them with evidence, not because they waited on other people to present what they had and for arrests to magically appear. If you have a list, submit it. Nothing gets done by waiting for something to happen. Ask Mrs. Bullard and anyone else who have put the rear ends on the line. There are also 3 other sites on FITSNEWS. Have you read Ronnie Leviner’s post or Councilman Doore’s? Pretty strong responses with real names used, times, dates, names, etc.? Good Luck if you decide to go foward. It would help things. The FBI needs facts and most of all documentation.
