They’re ALL Socialists

In a decision that was obviously made without the benefit of a mirror, members of the Republican National Committee decided yesterday that they were going to start referring to members of the Democratic Party as “socialists.”

Alright, alright … not exactly.

They were going to do that until “cooler heads prevailed.” Eventually, the RNC simply decided to throw the word “socialism” into some meaningless resolution.

From Chris Cillizza’s blog The Fix:

… the organization passed a resolution condemning the Democratic party’s “march toward socialism”.

“Resolved, that we the members of the Republican National Committee recognize that the Democratic Party is dedicated to restructuring American society along socialist ideals,” reads the resolution.

The vote, which has no practical impact, was cast as a victory by allies of Steele who insisted that catastrophe had been averted when an agreement was reached not to bring forward a resolution that would have re-nicknamed the Democratic party as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”

Amazing.

Republicans are obviously forgetting a few things … like the massive explosion in government growth that occurred under their watch or the Bush bailout that effectively ended capitalism’s two century run in this country.

Of course, now that Republicans are in the minority and have no favors to hand out to anybody, it’s cool to pretend they’re for limited government again.

Don’t get us wrong, President Barack Obama and the Democrats are, in fact, straight up socialists. Duh.

The problem is, so were the “compassionate conservatives” who preceded them – and whose incompetence and failure to adhere to the GOP’s founding principles handed the keys of government over to them.

Socialists?
