One For The Road
S.C. Senate President Glenn McConnell – who has been thoroughly unmasked this year as one of the arch-defenders of South Carolina’s failed status quo – couldn’t let the 2009 legislative session end without offering one final bit of hypocritical irony.
After voting all year against the taxpayers and against the conservative principles he claims to uphold, McConnell actually had the audacity to suggest that lawmakers would be acting in a fiscally irresponsible manner if they delayed for even a moment their methodical rejection of Gov. Mark Sanford’s cost-saving vetoes.
Seriously … he actually said that.
Specifically, McConnell told his fellow Senators that they owed it to “the taxpayers of this state” not to incur any additional costs by adjourning for the day and then reconvening the next morning to take up the rest of Sanford’s vetoes.
Obviously, McConnell doesn’t want his newest lapdog Sen. Paul Campbell to take one step out of that chamber and hear from his constituents, who voted 2-to-1 for Sanford in the last election.
Campbell, incidentally, ran on “fiscal conservatism” and the whole “I’m with Sanford” thing, too.
Hell, they all did.
It’s just funny that in his singular drive to continue wasting millions of dollars, McConnell will call people out as “fiscally irresponsible” over the cost of a hotel bill.

Glenn,
The vast majority of S.C. citizens and voters appreciate the work you and the Legislature are doing to stand up for S.C. by demanding that the “new” Gub’ner Moonbeam gets every cent of the Stimulus Money for S.C.
Markie Sanfraud seems perfectly content to be personally responsible for the lay offs of hundreds and hundreds of teachers. Children will suffer. Families will suffer. Educators will suffer.
Markie hopes it will boost his poll numbers in 3 or 4 years.
What a scam.
Keep up the good work. Get the stimulus money for S.C.

We can hardly wait till the state is bankrupt and Markie is gone.
Then we can raise taxes 200% and our great school system can shine even more.
We dream of the day that government controls all aspects of our lives and we live in shacks 20 to the room. The USSR was a great model and we can only dream of the day WE rebuild it on our soil.

Speaking of taxpayers’ money and hypocrites, have you found out how much marky mark is paying his five — count ‘em, five — lawyers to sue the state? I know you’re on top of it will.

When can we state publicly that McConnell is as queer as a three dollar bill? I don’t care, but I’ll bet his constituents will.
