Craigslist Sues SC
Not content with flat out “McMastering” South Carolina’s headline-seeking, not-so-bright Attorney General, the Internet site Craigslist is now taking Henry McMaster to federal court.
Which means Palmetto State taxpayers will now be picking up the tab for McMaster’s latest public relations backfire.
According to an entry on its bare bones blog, Craigslist is seeking declaratory relief and a restraining order against McMaster.
“In addition to being unwarranted by the facts, legal experts agree that the charges threatened represent an unconstitutional prior restraint on free speech, and are clearly barred by federal law,” Craigslist’s blog entry says. “Interestingly, if you read Mr McMaster’s ultimatum carefully, you’ll note that the only way to definitively comply with it is to take down the craigslist sites for South Carolina in their entirety.”
McMaster, seeking to capitalize on Craigslist killer headlines to further his GOP gubernatorial ambitions, has been thoroughly owned at every step of this process.
He’s embarrassed the state and now he’s subjected the taxpayers to frivolous legal fees – all to try and win a few social conservative votes in a GOP primary.
UPDATE – McMaster’s idiocy is now all over the New York Times. Way to go, South Carolina!

Is there a process to make it so McMaster has to pay for it?

in a non monetary way, yes. Make sure he doesn’t get elected to any office by blogging and supporting every one of his opponents.

McMaster has given more publicity to the Craigslist cites than they could have ever paid for. Thanks, Henry!

Well that’s two out of the “Big Three” down. Any bets on how long before “SC 2″ is found to be throwing his “weight” around again. It would have been even more embarrassing and expensive to have had any of these guys occupying the Governor’s Mansion for four long years.
Actually, this is good news for SC since we now have a viable choice for a fiscally conservative, taxpayer’s advocate in Nicki Haley in the running for Governor.
