S.C. Senator Vincent Sheheen is widely-regarded as the Palmetto State’s Democratic gubernatorial front runner, a view that was confirmed in FITS’ recent “Stop … Donkey Time!” survey.
Sheheen easily bested the rest of the Democratic field in our poll, snaring 42% of the vote.
Charleston attorney Mullins McLeod came in a distant second with 27%, followed by Sen. Robert Ford (15%), House Minority Leader Harry Ott (13%) and Lowcountry pastor Amos Elliot (4%).
On the Republican side, Rep. Nikki Haley led a crowded field of candidates.
All told, 504 people voted in the two polls – 337 casting ballots in the GOP poll and 167 voting in the Democratic poll.
Thanks to everybody who took the time to vote and stay tuned for future polls as the fields get firmer in the weeks to come …
