We’re all about coddling in this country … or ignoring, apologizing, glossing over and explaining away …
It’s never anybody’s fault, and when actions (as they always do) result in consequences, we go on empathy overload rather than providing people with the tough love they really need.
As a result … America is now fat, broke and communist. Which, of course, is somebody else’s fault.
It’s time for some tough love if you ask us …

When you use eating, getting fat, and being irresponsible as a metaphor for the general malaise in this country, I think you are absolutely correct.
