He tops her for beimg ineffective. He even has to ride on her coattails. He couldnt get a road widened or built IF he tried, which he doesn't. So the needs of his district go unmet as well. BTW: Haley is more of a reform candidate than Sanford by far. She will ROCK this state. I know this because I know her to be a genuinely concerned individual who is one of us. She's middle-class, has worked for a living, is very intelligent and knows her way around Columbia. Though she presents herself very well she's no smooth-talking, good ol' boy (obviously). Nikki is to the point and represents the closest to a kinetic politician that I've seen in decades. She has turned her frustration and concern into ACTION and shown the necessary courage to see it through when it hurt her the most to do so. My question to the other candidates is: "Got guts?" Nikki has more guts than the rest of the legislature combined. To those of you whining about her, it's obvious you're the type of politician or ally yourselves with those only concerned with what they can get out of it. The whole of government is a spoils system to you. SCREW THAT! With transparency and giving lawmakers enough time to read the bills and the pork therein and an audit and reorganization of state bureaucracies, as well as lower taxes for everyone, we wouldn't NEED pork going to one county or district or another. We can prosper in a more sustained and solid manner if we cut out fascistic and socialistic tax money giveaways and other favors and exemptions for the corporate elitists. If the ports are a good investment, businesses will invest in them. Otherwise, they can just rot. Begging financial favors from elected officials is more like Imperial Rome than a true republic. It's the backroom deals and quid pro quo that are killing our state's economy and business climate. The kind of businesses we would welcome are the ones that would appreciate an open and honest state government that the citizens of the state could control. In such an environment, the taxes and fees are the same today as they'll be twenty years from now or forty years from now (accounting for Federal Reserve inflation). As it stands now, one company after another moves off as soon as the tax exemptions expire. It's as if we have to give away the cow to get the milk when attracting businesses to this state.
