Haley Blasts Budget Process

S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley took to her Facebook page today to blast a budget process that she says gave lawmakers insufficient time to review a $20.7 billion budget.

“Two legislators took it upon themselves to write the entire state budget, gave us 2 hours to look at it, refused allowing 24 hours to review it, had a vote and now it is on the Governor’s desk,” Haley wrote. “These irresponsible actions have to stop. It hurts everyone in this state.”

Within minutes, Haley’s Facebook page was blowing up with dozens of supportive comments.

“What a misuse and abuse of legislative power,” one supporter wrote to the GOP gubernatorial candidate.

“This is what is wrong with our state government,” added another.

“Thanks for letting us know,” another supporter said. “The news never covers anything like this!”

Indeed they don’t, which is why the MSM keeps losing its audience to blogs and social networking sites.

Incidentally, back in February State Sen. Tom Davis proposed legislation that would require a 72-hour “cooling off” period after House and Senate budget writers finished their work.

“We need to follow the money,” Davis told FITS at the time. “But the current budget process doesn’t allow us to do that.”

Needless to say, Davis’ proposal was ignored by “Republican” legislative leaders.

It seems to me like having a 2 or 3 week cooling off period would be more beneficial.

The current method feels more like a train robbery.

… or …

If the good representatives of the SC House could actually pay attention during the session, we might not have these issues. I’ve witnessed first-hand Ms. Haley wandering about the chamber, ignoring the Speaker and recognized house member(s) authorized to have the floor. I’ve seen her yapping on her cell phone and cajoling about with her fellow Club-For-Growth-er, Nate “I’m not REALLY THAT Transparent” Ballentine.

Stop crying over the fact you didn’t pay attention. Maybe the waaaaaambulance will pick you up.

It is real Republicans like this that SHOULD be leading our state, which incidently “Toyota Kawaski” why she WILL be governor of SC. Just because your being plugged by Harrell I can understand your bias…no not really. But Ms. Haley shows real LEADERSHIP, far cry of the typical politician in the field for governor and leadership of the House.

She needs to quit whinning like a baby, or Nathan for that matter, and get some thicker skin. Other people tend to deal with things pretty well. She is just mad she wasn’t one of the two people that she says wrote the budget. (It was really 5 people, counting the Speaker). She can’t be the insider so she is just going to bitch. What has she done for her district? Zero. No money brought back, no roads built, and schools that suck even more. Lousy record compared to others.

Obama was elected President, and 6 months before the Primaries everyone thought Clinton had the nomination sewn up. In today’s world, I wouldn’t try to be a prognosticator, Toyota Kawasaki.

Sanford in a dress.

I say we shoot for a month’s consideration and then compromise at two weeks.

BTW: Haley is more of a reform candidate than Sanford by far. She will ROCK this state. I know this because I know her to be a genuinely concerned individual who is one of us. She’s middle-class, has worked for a living, is very intelligent and knows her way around Columbia. Though she presents herself very well she’s no smooth-talking, good ol’ boy (obviously).

Nikki is to the point and represents the closest to a kinetic politician that I’ve seen in decades. She has turned her frustration and concern into ACTION and shown the necessary courage to see it through when it hurt her the most to do so.

My question to the other candidates is: “Got guts?” Nikki has more guts than the rest of the legislature combined.

To those of you whining about her, it’s obvious you’re the type of politician or ally yourselves with those only concerned with what they can get out of it. The whole of government is a spoils system to you.

SCREW THAT! With transparency and giving lawmakers enough time to read the bills and the pork therein and an audit and reorganization of state bureaucracies, as well as lower taxes for everyone, we wouldn’t NEED pork going to one county or district or another. We can prosper in a more sustained and solid manner if we cut out fascistic and socialistic tax money giveaways and other favors and exemptions for the corporate elitists.

If the ports are a good investment, businesses will invest in them. Otherwise, they can just rot. Begging financial favors from elected officials is more like Imperial Rome than a true republic. It’s the backroom deals and quid pro quo that are killing our state’s economy and business climate.

The kind of businesses we would welcome are the ones that would appreciate an open and honest state government that the citizens of the state could control. In such an environment, the taxes and fees are the same today as they’ll be twenty years from now or forty years from now (accounting for Federal Reserve inflation). As it stands now, one company after another moves off as soon as the tax exemptions expire. It’s as if we have to give away the cow to get the milk when attracting businesses to this state. It doesn’t make sense.

Someone asked how good a Rep for her district is she? She hasnt done one thing to benifit her district. Her style lets bureaucrats have control of everything. She is really quite ineffective. to the isiot that said “she will rock the state”, I dont want to be ROCKED. What a juvenile term. I want someone who can leas which she has not shown that ability> So far its whine and bitch on facebook. Who cares?
And Ballentine is the biggest hypocrite of the whole bunch. He tops her for beimg ineffective. He even has to ride on her coattails. He couldnt get a road widened or built IF he tried, which he doesn’t. So the needs of his district go unmet as well.
