Craigslist Is Kicking South Carolina’s Ass

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster’s ongoing campaign to make the Palmetto State look as backward as possible has taken a major step forward this week as a popular technology website openly mocked South Carolina for its ongoing “battle” with Craigslist.

We’ve already addressed how pathetic McMaster’s stance against this company is, particularly considering how Craigslist is among the least offensive of “adult service” websites out there, but the website TechCrunch has taken things to a higher energy level.

The site has launched a poll asking its readers whether or not Craigslist or the State of South Carolina is more important to them … and the results aren’t good for Sandlappers.

As of this writing, Craigslist is thumping South Carolina by a 4 to 1 margin – 2,167 to 540 votes.

Ouch.

In “response,” McMaster’s bought-and-paid-for political mouthpiece has launched a “poll” of its own, asking if “2,500 tech cruch readers” or “enforcing the law” is more important …

As of this writing, that poll has generated an underwhelming 16 responses.

Remember – the firms that read sites like Tech Crunch are precisely the sort of companies we want to come to South Carolina, especially now that House Speaker Bobby Harrell’s whole “hydrogen economy” has come crashing down on top of his head.

Now, thanks to McMaster, they’re all laughing at us.

Awesome. Seriously, we can’t wait to see the rest of “Kneejerk” Henry’s “economic development” plan …

Really? The AG thinks Craig’s List is anywhere NEAR the top of most South Carolinians’ list of things to worry about? Really?

How about the fact that fewer than half of the kids who start public high school in this state will graduate, despite the fact that we continue to throw gobs of money at the very system that brought us to this point? Has anyone checked our unemployment numbers lately and compared them to the nat’l averages? How about our stellar jobs growth rate and the lack of major industry in this state? The list could go on for days- screwy tax structure, property tax issues, a statehouse that runs the state’s day-to-day operations, etc.

My guess is that he’s only impressing a very slim demographic of non-technical, older, ultra-conservative voters who care only (or primarily) about social issues (but maybe he has polling to the contrary). I guess we’ll have to find out the hard way.

I just have to post about this, but this reminded me of the just released news with Craigslist’s CEO demanding for an apology from the AG of South Carolina. Always something new with Craigslist and things in the news.

What is wrong with the people of this country????????????
We have way more people in prison than any other country in the world.
Is it because we are more evil than other countrys or is it because this country really isnt for freedom??? THERE IS NO CRIME IF THERE IS NO VICTIM!!!!!…RON PAUL 2012

Has there been a “Biggest Attention Whore” poll taken around here lately?

Or, given McMaster, Bauer and Barrett’s recent PR problems, maybe there should be a “When Publicity Attacks!” award…

It’s not good to kicking off South Carolina’s people from Craigslist. I’m with this comment “IT IS ABUSIVE TO PLAY WITH THE RULE OF LAW”.
