Bobby Is Stepping In More Harrell
At the rate that the stuff comes out of his mouth, S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell’s middle name might as well be “Bullsh*t.”
Heck, it might as well be his first name, come to think of it …
Anyway, in one of the most ridiculously non-believable explanations we’ve ever heard a politician offer for anything, “Bullsh*t” Bobby says that stripping Gov. Mark Sanford of his appointment power on a key statewide board is aimed at preventing the governor from interfering in the colossal clusterfuck that is Harrell’s government-run economic development efforts.
Because God forbid anyone interrupt this brilliance …
We first broke the story of Harrell’s attempt to slip this little power grab into the budget last week – timing that we found curious considering how all of Harrell’s hundred-million dollar hydrogen economy dreams are currently evaporating.
Why? Well, even the big-spending administration of President Barack Obama has decided to pull the plug on hydrogen fuel cell research.
Now, thankfully, this insider scam is generating some serious MSM ink.
From La Liberbad (a.k.a. The Greenville News):
House Speaker Bobby Harrell said Monday that a controversial budget amendment about the chairmanship of an economic development agency deals with a broader issue of what he sees as a threat to legislative initiatives for a research-based economy by Gov. Mark Sanford.
The budget amendment adopted last week says the governor’s appointee to the South Carolina Research Authority, whom Harrell said he supports, shall not serve as chairman. Instead, he must be elected by other members of the board’s executive committee. It’s a piece of legislation the head of a policy research group called “banana republic government.”
The move drew cries of foul from Sanford’s office and his appointee, retired Greenville businessman Bill Masters, as well as from the president of the South Carolina Policy Council, who has been critical of legislative efforts to manage the state’s economy.
Of course it did – Harrell’s move was a blatant attempt to preserve the little scam he’s got going over at the State Research Authority.
What’s amazing is that Harrell actually had the audacity to say this of the agency he and “hydrogen guru” Larry Wilson are so keen on using as their own “Department of Commerce …”
They are doing great things helping to foster the creation of businesses that are hiring a lot of people in South Carolina.
Really?
Really, Bobby?
Because the last time we checked they were ripping off entrepreneurs and small businesses to fund more Harrell-inspired higher ed failure – and planning even bigger heists for future flops.
Fortunately, as is his right to do, Sanford appointed a reform-minded whistleblower to oversee this corrupt cesspool – something Harrell and his higher ed cronies obviously aren’t taking lightly.
At least they are getting called out on it, though …
Meanwhile, as for Bobby’s explanation for all this, all we can say is be careful not to step in the Harrell …
