Everybody knows that Rep. Barney Frank is the politician most responsible for melting the American economy down into one big sub-prime mortgage mess.
Now, it appears that Frank is going to be the politician most responsible for silencing any opposition to the socialist policies that he and President Barack Obama are implementing to “fix” the economy.
And while we knew Frank didn’t take criticism kindly, we had no idea he was willing to haul dissenters in front of his committee and threaten them with federal action if they didn’t come around to his way of thinking.
Alas, such is the new thuggery of Washington, D.C.
In a menacing letter sent last October to a financial services CEO – a letter that amazingly still hasn’t seen the light of day – Frank and five of his fellow committee members flat out threaten an American citizen for voicing his opinion.
“We were outraged to read in today’s New York Times that you are actively opposing our efforts to achieve a diminution in foreclosures by voluntary efforts,” Frank’s letter reads. “Your decision is a serious threat to our efforts to respond to the current economic crisis.”
Alright, that part’s fair enough – Frank and his colleagues are “outraged” that somebody had the temerity to disagree with them … in a free country, no less. But fine … whatever … moving on.
It’s the next part of the letter that should chill your blood.
“For the hedge fund industry, which has flourished for the past decade, to take steps so actively in opposition to what is currently in the national economic interest is deeply troubling and will clearly have serious implications for the rules by which we operate in the future if this posture of obstruction of our efforts is maintained,” the letter continues.
Wait … what?
Is that a threat?
Of course it is, a point which is underscored by the letter’s conclusion, in which the hedge fund CEO is “invited” to reverse his position and testify before Frank’s committee to that effect.
“We very much hope you will be able to tell us very soon that you have reversed your position … and we hope that you will also affirm your presence (before the committee),” the letter concludes.
From KXMB:
Not only does (Frank’s letter) summon Frey before this political committee so that its members can heap scorn and derision on him for the sake of the journalists and television cameras in attendance, it also threatens further regulatory action if Frey doesn’t change his opinion.
In short, it’s pure thuggery aimed at a free citizen for doing nothing other than expressing his opinion. The intent here is to intimidate Frey and others like him to stop criticizing the government. A despicable act by government that has no place in a free society such as ours.
Bingo.
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
In a real democracy, Frank and every committee member that signed this letter would be brought up on charges – and forced to resign their positions of public trust.
They are thugs, pure and simple.
Of course in our current edition of “Amerika,” the MSM will completely ignore this and Frank will continue to threaten people until he gets his way.
Which, if previous experience is any indication, will be awful for our economy as well as our democracy.

Yes, deeply involved, but not the architect of this disaster. Here is the guy you’re looking for:

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act dismantled all barriers between commercial and investment banks to reduce the systemic risks that existed before the Great Depression. Banks, securities brokers, insurance companies got to offer a bunch of new and risky “products” that turned the stock market into a casino. Except when the bottom fell out, Wall Street got bailed out. But you guys keep saying it was poor people that got us into this mess. Weird. Facts suggest otherwise. Neverthless, keep talking about “communism.” I’m sure comrade Bernanke and Cheney will agree.

“A democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. A Republic is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”
The key to understanding that this nation was created to be a Republic rests in a well-educated electorate. Your post on the “Award-winning Educrats” explains much.

“…will clearly have serious implications for the rules by which we operate in the future if this posture of obstruction of our efforts is maintained,” ….
What in the world is happening when elected officials can talk to people like this? And worst of all, that loser homosexual pimp Barney Frank? How can he open his mouth without people telling him to shut up and go get psychtropic drugs and a castration?
i agree with “There is some serious shit wrong with this country when his kind can stay in power “. Sharpen the pitchforks and the torches.
