Award Winning Educrats!
South Carolina’s public school system may be at the bottom of the national rankings in every important academic measurement, but never let it be said that Palmetto educrats aren’t Rembrandts when it comes to spinning their chronic failure to education our children!
In fact, last Friday the S.C. Department of Education proudly announced that the “National School Public Relations Association” had doled out more than 100 awards to public school programs in South Carolina in honor of their “outstanding communications and public relations efforts in 2008.”
Awesome … and very well-deserved.
Seriously, “award-winning” is really the only way to describe the prodigious propaganda efforts undertaken by our public school bureaucrats.
How else can you explain a system that successfully secures billions of dollars in new money each year from the S.C. General Assembly – only to produce steadily deteriorating results across the board while effectively killing any meaningful reform for 73,000 poor, mostly minority kids that remain trapped in hundred of failing public schools.
And since there’s so much extra education money laying around in South Carolina at the moment, it goes without saying that a luncheon was held in Columbia so that tons of taxpayer-funded travel expenses could be racked up by the administrators receiving these awards.
Way to go, S.C. educrats!

Give Howie’s voucher scam talking points a break. We’re certain you heard the great flushing sound. It was Howie’s voucher scam going down the Legislative toilet again. Where it deserves to be. In a toilet.
And comparing the voucher scam to “meaningful reform” is like a pimp telling you $20 will get you a “meaningful” relationship.
The voucher scam would not be meaningful to those who need help the most.
It would only leave them further behind. And you could care less.
