They Suck At Football But …

Notre Dame beat Cleveland State in softball yesterday, in case anybody was wondering.
Wait … what? There’s a bigger story coming out of South Bend?
Since it’s not football season, we must be referring to Catholicism’s diss of Barack Obama, which is manifesting itself in some major league outrage over Obama’s scheduled commencement address at Notre Dame tomorrow.
On the one hand, give Notre Dame credit. At least they’re not “pulling a Harvard” and doing to Obama what was done to Reagan back in the 1980s.
Which was tacky, tacky, tacky.
On the other hand, why should a school that stands for life and liberty have to open its arms to a guy who adamantly opposes both?
Of course, this whole Obama-Notre Dame spat is a purely symbolic debate – as any debate over letting somebody talk someplace is destined to be.
It’s a speech, he’s not assimilating the institution … yet.
Barack Obama should be welcome to speak anywhere he is invited. In fact, he’s welcome over at Chez Sic Willie anytime.
Does that make him any less a communist?
Of course not.
Does it make the teleprompted pablum that comes out of his mouth any less offensive to true advocates of life and liberty?
Of course not.
But this is America, and we let people talk here.
Which, frankly, is a lesson that all the rabid Obamaphiles need to learn.
